I didn't realize until this morning that this new edge attachment won't work on my ETS-EC 125. That is ridiculous. It's clear to me Festool is phasing out the large body top heavy 125's and focusing on the slim profile ETS-EC line. Like you they should've made this for the ETS-EC 125 corded.

Disappointing that the edge sanding guide doesn't work with ETS EC 125/3 EQ-Plus.

If you look at the majority of Festool advertising for the new Edge Sanding Guide, it's usually shown cordless and hoseless. I think they want to position this as an easy replacement for a hand sanding block. Thus, it's as easy to use as a hand sanding block but it is faster and also offers dust collection.

For any of the ETS EC sanders, they will all need to be used with a dust collector as they don't have an internal blower. So, add a DC hose and add a cord and you have a lot of junk getting in the way or weighing down the sander. Personally I think it was a good marketing move.

Good news [member=6605]ScotF[/member]  Seeing as this Edge Sanding Guide just clamps to the body of the sander, it may be easier than we think. I just looked up on EKAT and the sander bodies for the DTSC, ETSC & RTSC are all the same part number, 10037414.  [cool]  Things could be looking up.  [big grin]

I’m glad I held on to my Pro 5 Sander. I tought about selling it a few times but decided I did not have much invested. I ordered the edge guide last week from Toolnut. Can’t wait till October.

I kept my Pro5 for jobs I don’t want to use the ets ec 125. Like working on fascia on a ladder where there’s a chance it could fall 10 feet. For the price I paid on the promo makes sense to keep it. It does have a 2mm stroke so for using a 320g between coats of poly or somewhere less then deserving it’s the right tool. I’m holding onto the Pro5 now that they have the edge attachment.  I’m thinking that the 2mm stroke gives less oscillation and a steadier flow.  Plus the closer to the center the less randomness you’ll see, you’re only contacting a small portion of the disc at any given time? The ets sanders have two densities medium and soft. The ETs ec has three. I was checking with Allen K. And it seems that the medium is in between the hard and medium in the ec models and the same with the soft pad, Festool split the difference.

So any idea if the kit that is in Europe will be over here (corded ETS 125 and Sanding guide).  I went looking for it this morning and couldn't find it, just to finally dig up this thread that the kit doesn't exist in N.A.  .....  This just keeps getting worse.  I finally started thinking I would just cave and accept needing to buy the sander for this thing, but then to find I can't buy the kit...  what the heck.  And of course to find they don't sell the sanding guide in a systainer if you just buy it.  So one is left with a very random shape object just floating around with no home.

This just gets crazier to me as this goes along.

Thanks,  no urgency.  I was just going down the sander hole.  It's something I will might buy in the future unless something else happens.  For search COVID is messing with things.  I guess they just want people bringing stuff in from out of country.  Or I will just decided I don't need it that much and pass.  Festool really makes it hard for me to give them money.

The edge guide fits well in the PRO5 systainer (TLOC-2) along with the sander [not attached].  Presuming the ETS 125 has a similar systainer being the same sander not rebranded as a promotional product, it should fit.

Good to know.  They now have changed systainers, so that will be different, I think from what I saw the kit comes in a taller systainer than the non kit.  Since I would be buying the sander just for use with the edge guide, the edge guide would stay permanently on it, so fitting in systainer as one is important.

Buying a used ETS and then finding a taller systainer is certainly an option, if not a hassle/waste of money, but it is a way to avoid ending up with a systainer 3

Here ya go...the Pro 5 with attached Positioning Aid in the original Pro 5 #2 size Systainer with the black plastic insert removed.

And here is the new edge guide with a RTSC 400, two batteries, charger, dust bag, sandpaper, and an extra pad in a new Sys 3 M 187. I used black and green kaizen foam to somewhat match Festool green.
