I just got my first laptop today.

I got a Lenovo y550p  with the intel core i3, 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive, and bunch of other stuff.

I got this so I could take it with me to show customers plans and things I have been drawing on sketch up.

I hope it helps land me a few 15k+ jobs I have prices and drawings worked up for.
I have 4 meetings this week for about 75k worth of work I have been working on prices and such for.

I am making the transition this year to doing less of the actual labor and more of the phone work and managing.
I am picking out all the parts of a project I like doing and that I can make good money at quickly.

Plus I can spend more time with my two little girls.

Darcy,

Congrats on many things!

Go get them Tiger!

Thanks Peter, now I need to figure out how to share info from my desktop.
I wonder if I can even do it with different OS.  Windows 7 vs. windows xp.

I am not much good at this computer stuff.
I like hitting things with a hammer. [big grin]

Describe a little more about what you're thinking of when you refer to sharing info from your desktop...I may have some suggestions...

As of right now I can't even get my desktop to show up on my home network, when I pull it up on my laptop.

I would like to share some pictures, music, some documents from works, and a few things like that.

Ah.  Maybe try disabling the firewall on your desktop.  You don't want to leave it off forever, but it's worth a test.

Otherwise, have you tried looking for the desktop via it's computer name?
I haven't used Vista and Windows 7 much so bear with me if this isn't exactly right...
On the desktop:  Right click on my computer (either on the desktop or icon in the start menu), then select properties.  Click on the "Computer Name" tab.  You should see the computer name listed...

Then on the laptop:  Click on Start->Run.  Type in "//

I guess I have to make a disk on my desktop, so my laptop can connect to it through my home network.

I need to pair my laptop to my ps3 via bluetooth, I think my printer is bluetooth as well.

Ipad is also a usefull device to show people quickly jobs and things like that. Just adding to the confusing for technology.
