Sprayer manufacturers have been putting engineering resources into tips for the first time in a while.

The first result is a new RAC style Fine Finish Low Pressure tip from Graco. Similar to the previous green fine finish switch tips but with a redesign. Word is that Titan is about to roll some out as well.

For a quick take on what they are and what they do, here is an update:

I know a lot of FOG members use HVLP, there is some new tech there as well that will be worth knowing about...soon.

Doubtful.

They must not be available yet or at least I can't find any for a price check.

I grabbed this quote: Graco RAC X FF LP tips with SmartTip Technology are designed to work with Graco’s exclusive SmartControl™ Pressure Management System so "maybe" they don't replace a stock FF tip??

They do work with any airless or air assisted pump that has a gun with a Graco tip housing on it.

They just came out about a week ago and are available. They may not be inventoried yet in dealers but can absolutely be ordered if you don't see them.

Scott:

I emailed Portland Compressor where I've purchased Graco tips before, they stated no plans to stock right away but will list them by the end of the week with prices.  They would be shipped directly for Graco in  Minneapolis.

Sherwin Williams paint stores might be a better bet.

Nope!  My local SW store would have to order them as well plus they never heard of the Graco FFLP tip.  They have a few FF tips and haven't ordered for stock in over a year.

What would be the problem with ordering them?

To listen to the guy, it was!  He said first I have to find my(his) Graco account info, my(me) SW account and call Graco.  Thought I was pulling his teeth here!

Doesn't matter, I just checked, Portland Compressor has the Graco RAC X FFLP Tips listed at only a couple of bucks higher than the FF tips.  I ordered two but won't be trying them for some time though.

I bought the Fine Finish GX19 in December and sent in the coupon for free extra tips. The tips I just received are the new FFLP ones.

Good to know. How do you like the GX19. Just waiting for an excuse (project) to buy one.

Oh that's cool. My guess is that these will bring about the phase out of the previous fine finish RAC tips.

Some more thoughts on the GX19.

I used a regular Rac X 315 tip for primer and an FFLP 314 for the paint to experience the new tips.

Thanks for the write up. I have noticed that other than Scott and few others there is not much specific information from first hand users on these units.
