The shipping depo called to say I could come and get the new MFT/3 I ordered this past week!  Unfortunately he said the box was marked as damaged and was open on one end :(.
I'm going to get it, too bad...it's one of the more expensive tools I've ever bought.
The bad thing is it's not easy I return. I ordered it from Canada from a US dealer and shipped to a US location for me go get.
Much cheaper than CDN prices but risky.

Wish me luck.

Most expensive tool you've bought?

Welcome to the world of Festool.

and if this is your first post

[welcome]

to the FOG

If it is damaged, it may be possible to replace individual parts sourced from the dealer or Festool direct. They are very good about this. Mft3's are one of the hardest festool items to ship according to many dealers. I received a damaged mft3 top where one corner was crushed but didn't return it as it was only a cosmetic issue. Good luck.

If it is damaged, I'd say that, regardless of the trouble involved, you should probably arrange to have it replaced. I don't know about you, but I would never be happy if it wasn't perfect right from the start. I hope it isn't damaged.

On the subject of damaged replacement tops, I have received 3 that all had varying degrees of damage in the last 10 days. I ended up keeping the third one after amazon offered a 50% discount. I think Festool need to rethink packaging, all were damaged on the corners. Two came UPS and the other FedEx.

Congrats on your new MFT/3!  I just got mine yesterday too and I got a damaged guide rail.  You can still use it, but at $645 USD, I want a replacement or a discount.  Will have to call up my dealer on Tuesday.

Do you have a next Festool tool in mind yet?

Euh, never before have I heard about a MFT getting damaged in transport. Perhaps certain carriers need to have some of their employees rethink handling. The MFT boxes are great for dealers to stuff all kinds of other small Festool accessories (that are usually ordered with it) into without ever needing to invest some of their own packaging  [tongue]

Ok I've opened it up
And put it together.  No damage but I am missing a small piece for the rail/cord protector. The little metal rectangular part.  Who would I contact to have it possibly set out?    Highland Woodworking or Festool customer support?

I ordered a new MFT/3 from Amazon.  It came with a dent in side rail / profile frame.  Since I could not slide guild rail support unit or clamp pass it.  Amazon shipped a replacement within 2 days.  The box was opened and partial damage.  However, the MFT/3 is good.  Amazon customer service is great.  I have not had any issue with them yet.

Festool should reconsider how to package the MFT?  I bought 2 of them and they were damage during shipping and need replacements.  IMHO, it's kinds of waste good products.

Actually they did re engineer their packaging to meet UPS and FEDEx requirements years ago.  Prior to that the MFT's had to be shipped motor freight if I recall correctly.  It happened about the time that I ordered mine.  I begged and offered to pay my dealer more to have mine double boxed.  He did it for free and as far as I know he still does.  Who?  Bob Marino of course.

I got my MFT/3 recently from Bob Marino.  The Festool box was inside another box, in which they placed a hard cardboard piece around all edges.  The box made it to me fine except for my rail.  Should I call Festool or call Bob Marino?

With my recent shipping nightmare with MFT replacement tops I will think long and hard about ordering any sensitive electronics like televisions that are over size and hard to handle. UPS, FedEx and USPS just can't do the job in my opinion.

When I received my MFT/3 my rail was damaged as well.  It was packed, like many of you have received, with the rail in it's own box.  My center channel on the underside was damaged on the end, luckily, it was just a small indention.  It appeared to be some type of blunt impact and looks very similar to the image above.  I was a bit confused as all the other parts of the kit were perfectly fine and even more so when I saw no visible damage to the exterior of the packaging.  Long story short, my dealer was notified and the situation was quickly corrected!

Same here...I sent an email to Bob Marino's Best Tools and a new guide rail was sent out today.  It looks like the accessories pack and the guide rail was just banging around inside the box during transport.

This was my box that the rail came in...Not Bob's fault but Festool should have packaged it better some how

I emailed the service dept from the form on the contact section of the Festool website.  Very fast resolution, they're mailing out the missing part.

This is the condition of the MFT/3 box I received.  The box was opened and damaged on the opposite side.  Amazon took care of it.  Their customer service is great.

Hmm... the fence on my MFT had a small dent on the bottom of the small leading edge when I unboxed it as well. I talked to the guys at Lee Valley here where I bought it and they said they'd look into getting me a new one... that was over a month ago. I guess I should look into what's going on there. In the meantime I filed it down so it's flat but I can tell it's affecting the accuracy of my cuts oh so slightly. I'm more upset because of the price of the tool and the fact that I bought it specifically to achieve that added accuracy and precision. Maybe Festool needs to relook at their packaging process if several of us have had this issue? Maybe I got one that was transported prior to the changes? Either way I think I'm going to look at getting a spare from EKAT to make an offcut fence a la HalfInchShy.
