Saw that Milwaukee just released a more powerful and tripodable (if that's a word) version of their M18 flood light (with power cord plug in option), which can go up to 3000 lumens.  I got the 1100 lumen version over the summer, and really dig it, and was thinking this more powerful unit might by a good complement to help extend my working hours in the evening now that it gets dark so early.  Anyone have/used it?

Edward, have you seen the Milwaukee extendable tripod light?  It's quite an awesome "tool".  We finally just started receiving them, I believe last week.  Super bright, pretty light and most importantly seems to be significantly higher quality than disposable style LED jobsite lights we're used to.

I have, thanks.  It's incredible how much lighting and battery technology have advanced over the past few years.  Though I'm surprised they made the one on the tripod only generate 2000 lumens, as opposed to the 3000 of the one they're selling for $149 w/out the tripod.

That's a great question.  Let me get us an answer.

I think that's the case as Edward stated, given the decreased runtimes match the higher output.

You'll be satisfied with either. 3000 lumens isn't that much visually brighter than 2000, your iris will adjust to mute much of the gain you'd get going with 3000. You'd be better off suited buying two 2000 lumen ones and getting more coverage.

I have the new light and it is great, I had the 1000 lumen and really liked it.  The only thing Milwaukee slipped up was not making the unit a charger also.  If they had the battery would never need removing.

I just bought one and was surprised to learn that the tripod model includes neither a battery nor a charger.

Milwaukee and some vendors are running a promo on the 3000 lumen light you were asking about. $149 for the light and comes with a free 5.0 aH battery.

Might want to check around if you are stil interested.

Was supposed to do an installation today, but it got shut down by the building super since there are no "deliveries" on weekends.  So it gave me some time to head over to my dealer -- needed to drop off some blades for sharpening -- but while i was there I asked if they were also doing the deal on the Milwaukee Light/Battery combo.  They were not, but one of the reps graciously agreed to match the price, so I'm up one light and one 5Ah battery.

I must be the only person who really doesn't like work lights on tripods.
Walk past them slowly and give them a slightly funny look and they cack over on the ground. ;)

Much prefer them on short stands and ideally with magnetic feet. Can clack them onto steel beams, put them on top of things, screw them onto first fix partitions if you drill a couple of holes on the feet near the magnets.

Dead easy.

Guess its come from using my nifty PLS 2E (and more recently PLS 180) laser with its great little magnetic bracket

and also my cheapo Faithfull worklight with COB LED and magnetic base.

Yeah there's lights with better output but I'd have ones with that style of base over a tripod any day of the week.

I just unpacked my tripod mounted flood light.  Usually I've used corded versions that sit on the floor.  It's so nice having the light coming from up high and no cord to trip over.  Light quality is pretty good and output is fantastic!  The whole unit seems well made.  I wish they had added the AC option like they did with the 3000 lumen light, but I'm otherwise very pleased.  I hope I'm as pleased with the rest of my M18 tools.  Making a switch after using Makita for the last 10 years.

Love the m18 angle grinder and hackzall.
