Comparing the two against each other, the midi is 50mm taller and .3kg heavier. It also has 5 litres more volume inside. They also use the same bags.

So is it worth just buying the slightly cheaper mini?

Thoughts?

I have two minis, couldn't be happier. I mostly use them for sanding and general clean up so I get plenty of use before the bag is full. I love how portable it is.

There really isn't much difference with the Midi the only difference is the bag size. So the Midi gets a bit heavier when it's close to full.

I used to have the midi, then I sold it and bought the 26 due to the fact you could put systainers on top. I envisaged myself stacking boxes up and rolling them from van to site. I’ve done that maybe once or twice in 2 years. It’s too big and heavy to be lugging up stairs etc imo.
Back to the mini or midi very soon I think!

I dont get that, you can put systainers on top of the Mini/Midi also. I also had a 26, thought it was too big for my needs.

Yes, you can put Systainers on minis and midis too. The wheels are closer together though, so tiooing over ste stack becomes more likely.

Only you yourself know how strong you are and what you use it for. A nearly full midi will be heavier than a mini. Empty it will still be larger. I dont't have a problem with my 22 or 26, but I am long with long arms and rarely take it up the stairs.

If I were to buy a third I would get a Midi.

Mini over Midi is all about the smaller size. Yes it is only a couple inches but it can make a difference depending on usage.

Personally I like some of the features on the new Mini / Midi. But the fact that the new Mini is about an inch taller than the old style makes it too tall to fit under the cover on my truck bed. So barring a new vehicle I will be staying with the old design. Neither old or new Midi will fit.

The decision between Mini and Midi just comes down to whether the size matters to your use. Does it need to fit in a particular space?  With size 'X' Systainer on top?  Does the added height of the Midi make it harder to carry upstairs with a Sys - III? etc.

If you're planning to use it with a tracksaw or a mitre saw or even a router, bag size matters. For sanding, not so much, though the increased filter surface will still mean proper suction for a longer time with a midi over a mini. All in all, considering the very slight height and weight difference, I'd opt for the midi. The new ones have smooth hoses, bluetooth and (manual) external filter cleaning.

Probably UK specific but a major factor about the NEW MIDI I is that its available in M Class extraction.
Very important for UK as a lot of sites are insisting on m class extraction.
We hear tales regularly of guys getting chucked off sites for using L class. [sad]
