New OF 1010 “R” in a router table

Not sure how many of you are using or consider using the new “R”evision OF 1010 in a router table, but some might.
One thing to note in that matter: The new version has a built in NVR switch functionality. IE: It cannot be remotely be switched back on after a power interruption without release and re-engaging the switch on the tool. Most remote NVR will let you switch it off though, which is the most important thing, safety wise. So it means that each time one has switched the tool off by remote switch, you’ll need to reach under and reset the tool switch before proceeding.

That would indeed be a hassle to work around. As a hand held, I can see the safety feature as a good thing, but as a left-handed user, I don't really like the positioning of the trigger lock in the first place.

It appears that all "handheld" routers produced by Festool (and other manufacturers with products intended for the EU market) will see revised models some time soon due to new legislation requiring the NVR switch in the router itself.

21.18.1.1 Addition:
For routers, power switches other than momentary power switches are permitted.
NOTE In Europe (EN 62841-2-17), the following additional requirement applies:
For routers, either
– the power switch shall be a momentary power switch without having a locking arrangement in the “on”
position
or
– the tool shall not restart after an interruption of the mains supply without releasing and re-actuating the power
switch.

True, as Garry Martin says. It’s a pity, but I think for me, and most other who owns the 1010 it’s mostly used handheld. (Still the nice features and the slick & easy to use accessories of the 1400 is really a shame in a router table too).

I did check my freshly arrived OF 1010R, it does shut of, after a few seconds, having to reset the switch. But pulling the plug, and re-plug it again in the socket reasonably fast makes it spin again. There are some tiny seconds before the router disengages.
Still, using Festool’s NVR switch, you only need to reach under to start (after pressing the remote switch on), it will run in locked position, and most important, the kill switch still works. So for safety the remote stop switch (and within easy reach) still has its place…

Edit: I did check my new TS 55 FEBQ performing the same test; as long as you hold (double action trigger with the plunge lock) it in on position it will fire up after disconnecting and reconnecting the plug, even after a while. So, it seems apart from non compatible riving knife of the TS 55 R CMS module it should work in the module. Riving knife and mounting still to be confirmed. (Riving knife needs, if everything else is the same as the “old” R version is the same, needs to be grind down to match the smaller kerf of the new blades)
