New Owner and New Member with a CT Question

Gents 
I just purchased a Rotex RO 125 FEQ Dual-Mode Sander and need to purchase a CT unit with a Boom Arm. Most of the time as a hobby I build small strip planked boats which requires a lot of epoxy sanding and the occasional kitchen cabinet. Which CT  unit would be the best unit for the type of work I do CT26 /CT 36/CT48? Other than capacity is there much difference between the dust collectors?

Hi if you are going to use mostly for sanding I would go for the ct26 I think festool vacs mostly have the same motor so performance is likey to be simular

Welcome to the forum!   [welcome]  Other than capacity and the resulting size and weight, the performance of the units is the same.  The top half of the units with the motor is the same.  In fact, if you were to buy the CT-26 now and later decided you wanted the extra capacity, you could purchase the CT-48 bottom and install your existing top half.

The bags work out to be cheaper in use for the larger units based on the capacity per dollar, but there is a trade-off in weight.  I might suggest that if you have the room you consider the CT-26 and think about adding a Dust Deputy Cyclone to your arsenal.  I finally broke down and added one to my CT-22 two weeks ago and have gone thru fifteen gallons of debris to be dumped out of the tubs and have less than a quarter cup of stuff in my bag.  My uses including cutting, routing, sanding, drilling, dominoing.  All that was in the bag was a little bit of dust.

I paid less than $90 for the cyclone.

I think you probably already realize this based on your post, but you can not use the boom arm on the Mini/Midi. 

If you are mostly sanding then the CT26 is probably the way to go as capacity won't be a problem. And yeah, the boom arm seems like it would be perfect for working around a boat. Probably just need to move the CT from one end to the other depending on how long they are. And the Rotex  is a good choice for that work too.
