Soft cover on the top for better grip
Edge guard
Long life bag for dust collection
Improved MMC electronics for continuous speed under load
Increased airflow channel on the pad to prevent 'sticking' to the work surface so the extractor can left on higher setting  [smile]

List of improvements, Phil?

Looks like a stronger motor by 50 watts, the pad protector and locking dust port. Anything else???

Looks like you edited your post with that info.  [wink]

Oh nice addition with the pad channel. Look forward to seeing that in action!

Assume you can put that new pad on existing models, yes?

Thanks for posting Phil...I'd like to upgrade my ETS with the new pad. Any chance Shane that you'll be selling the new pad?

As soon as FUSA has them, we'll get them in stock and put them on the website. No ETA currently, stay tuned.

Can you swap the rectangular and triangular pads?

Obviously, like everyone else here (except Phil), I haven't seen these in person. But, based on the EKAT, the only part number that's different between the RTS and DTS is... drum roll... the pad.  [cool]

If you consider having to remove and replace the four pad screws worth it.

There may be other implications to swapping the pad, not sure. Phil might know, otherwise someone will have to try it out once we can get hands on these new sanders.

[member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member] curious on the ETS125 pitch ...

When someone walks into a Festool dealer wanting a 125mm sander, they're confronted with a choice ...

ETS125 EC
ETS125 REQ
RO125

... what's the party line on which tool to pitch? It's fairly easy to carve the RO out of the herd and speak separately of it's merits, but does it come down to wallet sensitivity after that? Doesn't the EC just do everything better for more $'s or is there a subtle something else in there I'm missing?

I just noticed that the longlife dust dag appears to compress down in size and lock into a closed position for storage, which is cool. Probably a spring inside. Nice addition for those who use the bags.

With the addition of the longlife reusable dust bags, I wonder if that means cordless versions are on the horizon.  [popcorn]

Cordless, vac-less, dustless sanding [eek] .. That'd be cool [wink]

You can't replace the pads without a small modification. The backing plates are not just screwed on but also clamped under the rubber skirt.

Furthermore, if you replace the pads often like I do on my DS400, you eventually strip the screw holes on the sander because the metal plate they're in is too soft.

Every now & then it is nice to use the sanders/saw without a vac...that's where a good bag comes in.

Will the RTS be available in 110v version as all my tools are that voltage for site work?
