Festool is in the process of transitioning to a new design for pads and abrasives on its 6" (150mm) sanders. This next step in the evolution of Festool's patented Jetstream technology, called Multi-Jetstream, continues to improve on the phenomenal dust extraction capabilities that you come to expect from Festool sanders.

The Hole Story.

Building on existing industry leading performance, this next generation design incorporates a modified hole pattern that increases airflow and results in even better dust extraction efficiency. In addition, the new pads incorporate an enhanced, heat-resistant StickFix design, extending both pad and abrasive life considerably.

Quick Facts.

    * Pricing for Multi-Jetstream pads and abrasives will be the same as existing products they replace.
    * Air movement is increased through and across the pad, increasing dust extraction and lowering pad temperature thus reducing wear.
    * Applies to 6” (150 mm) only – RO 150, ETS 150, LEX 150 sanders.
    * New paper works on old pads – backwards compatible.
    * Old paper works on new pads – forward compatible.
    * Updated packaging for Multi-Jetstream abrasives.

Multi-Jetstream Pads.

Only the pads and abrasives are changing - not the sanders. Existing RO 150 and ETS 150 machines can be converted to Multi-Jetstream by simply switching pads.

    * More holes in the face, as well as channels in the pad, for increased air movement.
    * Even more heat resistant than current design for longer pad life.
    * Attach in the same manner as existing pads
    * Work with Jetstream and Multi-Jetstream abrasives

Please note that there are new product numbers for all sanders, pads, and abrasives that have changed to the new Multi-Jetstream technology. Visit your preferred Festool dealer for more details.

Shane, thanks for the quick and thorough reply.

Dumb question here, but is the new pad compatible with the ES150?

The new pads work with and are available for all 6" sanders, including the ETS 150, RO 150 (including the older one) and LEX 150.

D'oh! And I -just- bought the 6" paper assortment promo pack...  and the hard pad.  Double d'oh.

Hi
I installed a new pad on my ETS 150/3 yesterday. The new pads also have a soft edge without velcro which I think is meant to protect the work and edge of the sheets or something like that!
Anyhow I found the Rubin seemed to cut quicker with the new system - but no scientific tests done!
I love the way Festool continuously improves their tools - my dealer gave me new pad free too!

Did you use a new sheet of Rubin with the new hole pattern or an old one?

I bought the (legacy) hard pad 2 weeks ago!

I've been using the new pad for 3 months now. I don't notice any difference. Dust collection was already excellent, hard to improve on that.

When will the new pads be included with sanders, as original equipment?

Michael, we have begun shipping sanders with the new pad as original equipment (several weeks ago).  It would simply depend on your dealer's inventory.

Yes I used the Rubin with the new hole pattern.

Are there any plans to port this to the 125mm sanders?

We talked about the new sanding pad before and someone asked this question, I believe the answer was no.

Brice is correct, at least for the forseeable future, it is 6" only.

I happen to need a replacement 6" pad, and boy am I glad I didn't pull the impulse-trigger two weeks ago.  Decided to wait until after the holidays to see where the inevitable (and oft requested) gift cards are for...

Is there a part number to reference for the new 6" pad?

Can we assume Festool has some sort of hole-punching toy tool on the way to add more holes to everyone's existing stock of sandpaper discs?  Or should I mail in the patent application?  [big grin]

I was in a woodcraft in VA today and saw the new pads.  Of course, they had like 3 random pads and no paper.  But one interesting thing I noticed is that there is definitely a 125 pad.

Is there going to be a blow out on the old paper, or are we going to have to wait for people to sell out of theirs?
