I would like to see Festool market a sanding tool similar to the profile sander made by Porter Cable several years ago. The concept was very good, but the mounting of the sanding material to the profiles was less than desirable. I'm sure that Festool could do a better job of it.

Have you taken a look at the Festool LS130?  Linear sander with profiles and the ability to make custom.

Peter

I have the LS130 with all available attachments, and previously owned the full Porter Cable Profile sander kit.

I much prefer the Festool, though the PC had more esoteric profile options included. The fact is that I had a number of profiles in the PC that were never used, but have used the LS130 profiles on a much more consistent basis.

With the addition of the RO90 Delta pad, I have next to a complete profile and edge sanding system. I 'may' add the DTS400 in the future....just because it's green! [smile]

Cheers,

Frank

Oh... and Peter.. shouldn't you be in bed?? [scratch chin] [big grin]

The DTS400 is one of Festool's nicest little sanders. I put it high on the must have list!

Thanks guys for the heads up... I found the answer in the LS 130 while browsing the sanders list a bit later. Still, I wish Festool had more off the shelf profiles available.

I hear you. we've discussed this before on FOG and other forums. Once you own the PC sander, you LIKE the fact that it will get into smaller profiles if needed with its different rubber sections. But, the LS130 has more power and much better dust collection compared to the PC. I own both sanders, and won't give up my PC variable speed model until something else comes along to fully replace it.  For me, the LS130 does much more, but not all.
The velcro system on the LS130 does beat the sticky abrasives of the PC or a clamp style like the Fein MM system though.  [embarassed]

Yeh, you're probably right - that'd explain why I have 3 Festool jigsaws [embarassed]
