New scale for Incra T Track Plus

Hi,

I purchased the Seneca parallel guides a while back and now I have had some time to work with them I find the scale that comes with the Incra tracks is a weak link to the system. First you need to cut about 8" off to account for the track making the scale 8" short of the track. Second is the fact that you need to align each 16" section to the other section or sections. This just adds another opportunity to cut pieces the wrong size. I would like to see a continuous one piece scale with both metric and standard dimensions. I would also like to find a way to fix the scale in place once calibrated so it will not move and you don't need to check it every time you pick up the guides to use them. Has anyone found a suitable one piece scale for these tracks?

Thanks,
Gerry

my sentiments exactly. That's where the Woodpeckers OTT Parallel Guide track marking is a definite improvement.

Not exactly what you asked for, but here's the method I use to set both tracks.

I don't always keep my splinter guard in good shape and have found it is set back from the the saw cut. Your method would work well if the splinter guard was in good condition.

Thanks,

Yes, that is a problem.  There are work arounds, but I have not found an ideal solution.

Both my 55 and 75 are set to cut 3mm off the aluminum extrusion and that is what I measure from rather than the splinter guard if the cut needs to be perfect.

[member=25351]rst[/member] How did you set it up that way?  Did you use the knobs for adjusting out the slop?

That is a very good point to consider. I will measure mine and see where it is. I guess you need to loosen the screws that hold the base on saw to adjust this?

Thanks,
Gerry

If you set both parallel guides in the same spot, without moving the ruler, you will avoid the problem of variation, regardless of splinterguard condition.

I had the 75 first, before I bought a recon 55.  It is actually easier to adjust the 75 to match the 55 than vice versa.  To find the distance, I made a cut in UHMW plastic and then used a caliper to find the 3mm.  I also checked a couple of my other tracks to be sure they were consistent.
