I have been building a new work bench for my garage.  I am a big fan of the Kreg pocket screw system and clamping systems.  So I built my own clamping station using Kreg clamp trak, and the bench has tool storage.  The router table uses a Kreg router table top and fence.  The router for the new table is the Triton 2 1/4 horse router.  This project was so much easier with the help of my new Festool  TS55 saw.  I still have some work to do on both, you can see the basics at this link.Work bench pics

Hi,

Very nice. I like the expanding top idea.

Seth

I like it, too!

Great design, well made! I like Kreg screws too, but I would have used that project as an excuse to purchase a domino.... ;D

Do you have any issues with the expanding section sagging/deflecting when pulled out, especially with some weight on it?

Thanks guys but to  be honest the idea was not mine, I found it on the net.  The expanded section never has very much weight on it.  When you place a sheet of plywood or such on it, half of the sheet is supported by the bench top and the other half by the outer edge of the pullout.  There is about 6" of runner still inside the bench top and those runners are maple so they are quite strong.

Believe me I thought about a domino but I have never really liked my biscuit cutter so I was afraid of the domino not working out for me since it is in the same family of tools.  I'm sure it is much better than my dewalt but still I have my concerns and that price tag is a little tough to swallow.

Great bench! Just started on a run off table/ work bench with drawers. I also have the dewalt, its for sale now. I spent the bucks on the Domino Q, and bought a case of 5mm domino's. I'm redoing my shop storage, using mostly 3/4 birch ply. Glide Rite loved my full extension slide order. Planning lots of draws. Just finished (not stained or polyed yet) building a 4 drawer storage, under my TS extention table. I have to tell you I love the Domino. Made my cabinets and drawers with it. Learning curve was slightly more than a biscuit jointer. After reading the advice on FOG on plunging slowly, grip near the plug in, I like to hook my left thumb over the front knob and keep my hand out in front on the work, kind of pulling the Domino in. All my cuts have been dead accurate. I thought $750 was a lot for a overgrown biscuit jointer, but I have to tell you its the best money I've ever spent I love my Domino. Just a hobbyist point of view, Its going to be nice to have everything in a drawer or cabinet and out of the dust (Arizona has lots of Dust!) Will probably buy the Systainer in the next month or two when I'm ready to start on some furniture projects. Blanket chests for daughter and 2 granddaughters.

Bru, I have thought of taking my dewalt biscuit cutter around to some of the local construction sites and see if I could find a buyer.  But I'm really not in the mode to spend 750 at this time for the domino so I guess I'll keep the dewalt for now.

I should also see if I could sell my Hitachi router, M12V, less than 3 hours use.  I bought a new Triton to use with the router table.

dirtydeeds, it's all in what you are accustomed to, I think the two car garage is a little small with my motorcycles in there.  I did wood work in the past in one of my Dad's shops which was a 40' x 60' shop, talk about plenty of room.

nice set up,  those kreg clamping tracks are great.  I have the kreg clamping table and it really has helped in lining up faceframes. and making cabinet doors squaring them up.

Thanks guys,  I used a metal cutting blade in my Rigid miter saw to cut the Kreg clamp track.

All you have to do is sell that M12 V on eBay. The M12 V is in high demand. I sold three brand new units for 225.00 each. Used ones in good shape go from 135.00 to 175.00. A lot of people do not like the new version Hitachi at all. I preferred the old M12V myself, that is why I had so many. If you list is it for 135.00 to 150.00 it probably will not last but a few days if that.  3 hours use I would not take less than 155.00 to 165.00 minimum.

If it is not pristine you may get only 100.00 to 120.00 on eBay and it may take a week or so.

On amazon they are going for 279.00 to 449.00 because they are so hard to get new! I remember buying them on sale two years ago for 135.00 including shipping!

I was interested in getting a Dewalt biscuit jointer, You will have to send me a message, and I will have to see if I can afford it. I have a small problem though, I really will only buy a tool if its not all beat up though. It is kinda an obsession of mine.
