I'm going to be ordering the new SYSLITE KAL 2 in the next few days, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried the magnetic plate with head attachment. The system looks slick, but I'm thinking if I should just get by with my Gorilla pod hybrid, for mounting.. The Gorilla pod hybrid is meant for smaller high end compacts, weighs almost nothing but perhaps it's alittle to light duty for the Syslite..especielly with an attached 15 or 18v battery. The other solution would be to bring along a tripod with ballhead but that gets rather bulky it would work fine though..

One additional thing, I speculate that the magnet could give some problems with digital media cards, or computer and monitors..If for example I carry camera, Syslite in the same same tool box..

I really need the Syslite for painting work within the next couple of weeks, my impuls would be to just get two of them without the mounting accessory right now, but I think I'll wait and just get the one for now to see it that is enough and how it performs. So the question is do I spring for the mounting accessory or just get the light.

Just noticed this.
If it helps im lucky enough to have a few to "play" with [big grin].
they are awesome i do a bit photography/video and use them with GoPro's.
Tested it up to 60MPh on my pickup roof with a GoPro Hero4 and then bottled out with no safety cable [eek]

But would recommend you get one,i was also worried about the magnet but haven't had any issues yet carrying it about it in my camera kit.
the magnet is STRONG, 18KG force they say, and it certainly feels that way! but double it with a Fastening clamp ( FSZ 300) and you can stick your light anywhere!

I'm trying to get round to knocking up a video of a couple of the syslite II's on my pickup instead of headlights just to illustrate how bright they are, will post it when i get round to it!

Hope this helps.

I don't have a Syslite so I don't know what kind of mount they'll take. I bought a battery powered LED lamp used for photography along with this mount, the mount is excellent.

Ball head mount

The Syslite has a Standard 1/4" Camera type socket on the bottom so it can be mounted on any tripod as well as the "Magnetic spherical head".

......and dont forget the Syslite magnetic base has a rubber cover to protect the surface it is attached to, such as a Pickup!!
