Hi, my name is Mike, and I love Festools! I just found this forum via Festool.com and am excited to find so much information and so many folks into Festools! I also just read Gary's review of the Kapex as well as some on this site as well. Does anyone know an estimated availability of this saw in the states? Also, any ideas on locking the switch on a miter saw to prevent unauthorized usage? My only thought so far is to take it home every night. Thanks.

Mike the Kapex is rumored to be released in the US sometime in the summer, Festool USA has yet to set the official release date. I'd take the thing home in you are worried about unauthorized usage.

Thanks for the info Brice. Yeah I take my saw home every night just so I know some lousey plumber isn't cutting PVC with it as soon as I leave. Oh the enjoyment of a jobsite! I know a few other trim guys who have also thought of ways to keep unauthorized paws off important tools, but so far slim on any good ideas. Very much looking forward to the Kapex. Thanks again, Mike

Hi Mike, and welcome to the forum!!! One thought I have off the top of my head to prevent unauthorized use of a tool would be to cut the cord really short (like a 4" pig tail) and put a twist-lock plug on it, with a matching twist-lock extension cord that you could then take home. Granted, this certainly won't prevent theft of the saw, but if you're simply looking to keep people from using it, few workers carry twist-lock cords with them (at least that's been my experience in residential remodeling in Minnesota).

That's a great idea Tom, thanks. That seems worthwhile even if I do bring it home every night. Can't forget the lunchtime lurkers! Mike
