I only had a few moments to check out the RAS grinder (sander?) before I had to leave for work, but what does the locking lever lock?  I thought it was there to lock the brush rotation in one spot but it isn't working on mine.  I did a quick read of that section of the manual and I loosened the lever, removed the screw and tightened the square piece like it said to do.  I replaced the lever and it's still not locking.

Is there another way to set the pressure on the lever or does it not lock the rotation of the brush guard?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Tom

RAS has different dust collection system. It's rather debris removal system. All debris and dust collected around sanding pad. This green lever is for moving shroud up and down. When you move it up, hole is bigger, and it will pick up bigger debris. when you move it down, the hole is smaller, air velocity is faster, so debris removal system will pick up more finer dust.

The green lever is not meant to reposition the dust shroud, it is meant to lock it in one single place. The shroud is not meant to be used in different positions, don't try it.

So the lever is meant to lock the entire dust shroud in place, not a part of it, like the brush you thought it might. The brush does not lock.

The shroud is removable, see pic 3 from the RAS manual below. As you can see in pic 1 you can also fit the RAS with a shroud from a standard grinder. Back in the days when the RAS was new you could get a number of other attachments, which all have been discontinued by now.

Thanks, I thought it was used to keep the handle from rotating during use.

Alex, I'll have to look at the manual and RAS to see how it locks the dust shroud.
