New training videos from Sedge

In my opinion, it's not "either/or". It's "both".

We currently have 378 videos on our YouTube channel with several more currently in production (including some new "tips and tricks" videos with Sedge). YouTube will always be our primary video channel.

However, as [member=13337]Scott Burt[/member] pointed out, YouTube videos require more time and money (to do well). We've added more than 80,000 Instagram followers in about a year and a half, and Instagram is an easier, faster channel to test things and move quickly.

Love these Instagram videos. Short sharp to the point tips and tricks!

I have a Instagram page for my business and its great to share work, techniques, ideas, new tools etc with fellow woodworks from around the world plus I also get work enquiries through my page  😉

Keep these clips coming 👍🏼

Sorry,

I will disagree will my esteemed friends.

A quick video is a quick video.  We aren't talking about edited videos like Scott does or Festool hires or utilizes other staff to produce and edit.  Sedge's videos aren't edited. A raw video is a raw video and even I can can do it.  Pushing one button on mobile device to post on the web requires no more calories from comparing Instagram.

I understand that Twitter isn't in the Festool internet marketing toolbar as has been posted here.  Facebook will get a post a day or two similar to the pattern that happened when the advertising company did them.  The majority or posts will be by others and when questions are asked ... Then there will be instagram that is interesting to those who like short snippets and that is easy to grab "posts" from others.

I could post a quick video of my dog sitting at the kitchen table that I shot while typing this post to prove my point but my previous post was accurate it if you are talking about the same type of posts that Sedge has put on instagram lately - which I applaud - just feel you would get better exposure on YouTube.

I love these videos.  Short and to the point.  I dont even have an instagram account, which doesnt prevent me from watching them. So I dont understand the complaints.  I have watched many many youtube videos that go on rambling without getting to the point.  I'd take these punchy instagram vidoes over the dragging you tube videos any day.  Short and sweet.

The purpose of any of these videos is to communicate and these do that .  Thank you very much Sedge--I certainly learnt a lot.  So keep them coming.

They're great tips. They are useful tips. Brian is a great teacher, a very knowledgeable craftsman and cabinetmaker, and a tremendously nice guy.

So watch the tips or don't. It's you loss if you don't use all resources at your disposal. They're not full-length movies. They're just quick tips.

I've got to say, I've wrestled with the ol' rotex for a little while.  It is still my go to, and even after break in I still had a hard time keeping this bear from getting out of control.  I've had it for 4 years.  After watching one of sedge's short tips on how to maneuver the rotex it's like a whole new sander.  I'm glad for any tips, screw the people who would prefer it uploaded a certain way.  Get with the times, don't be a dinosaur and embrace the fact they are trying to help and encourage us all.  I am a little younger and Instagram is my favorite social media platform so I may be a little biased, but I'm very glad they are reaching into a new market.  Keep it up!

I like these videos a lot quick and dirty tricks. Cool

Oh I don't subscribe to instagram and I watch them on my iPad .

I just noticed that I can't get some of them to work on my IPad could be user error. These would be great if they were posted to the festool Facebook site. Better organised, keep everything in one place

Keep'em coming Sedge

What I think would be cool if Steve B started doing this to. Both Sedge and Steve are excellent instructors, both have different techniques for the same process, both equally good.
I think that would be awesome,

Steve I'm sure yer reading this, I'll be back bothering ya in LV soon.

So get to stepping a start kicking out some of these quick tips 🤙

I'm gonna have to take some of Sedges classes when I get home. That smile a his mannerisms are just awesome.

I liked the short videos.  Each made a good suggestion.  I picked up a couple tricks I will use.

Thanks Sedge.

I think Sedge is only doing these to get new shirts.  [thumbs up]

Is there a way to index these Instagram videos by tool?

Not on Instagram. However, we're going to begin publishing similar tips/tricks content on other platforms that will (hopefully) be easier to sort and categorize.

Noticed he's been on a diet to.

Sedge is one of the healthiest eaters that I know. A few years ago, he cut nearly all sugar out of his diet. He says that it's done wonders for him and he's really disciplined about it.

Tyler:

How do we send Sedge content suggestions or ask him to cover a topic?

An index feature would be most helpful.

If you all want to make suggestions below, we'll consider them.

(Sedge already has a long list, so it might be a while. Also, Instagram has a 60-second limit, so anything too complicated will need to wait for a different medium.)
