A lot of you know Festool trainer Brian "Sedge" Sedgeley. He's starting posting minute-long videos of Festool tips and tricks. They're on Instagram, but you can watch them online without an account. For a lot of you long-time Festool folks, many of these will be old hat, but there's lots of good stuff here.

He's posting a new video each Monday and Friday.

You can see them all here:https://www.instagram.com/festoolsedge/

Here's a few of my favorites:

How to increase the tension on your clamping elements: https://www.instagram.com/p/BR0t4iaj2GI

How to automatically shut off your ETS EC if the hose falls off: https://www.instagram.com/p/BSbbKY2DiSv/

How to align your DOMINO mortises on a crosshair: https://www.instagram.com/p/BS3s0jcjHSH

How to calibrate your KAPEX laser (by simply cleaning the lens): https://www.instagram.com/p/BRvaendDKDp/

How to properly connect your Guide Rails: https://www.instagram.com/p/BSleKgKDBn6

What questions would you like to see Sedge answer?

I'll go right on the record and say that I learn tons from this fellow. Truly a gifted trainer who makes things accessible to all.

Great info.  Especially centering domino on crosshairs.
Does he have any video tips on how to use my iPad?  I could only get it to play about half of the videos.

Spent most of the time in the shop yesterday trying to figure out how to do this very thing.  Logged on this morning, saw the post, watched the video - who knew about the milled edge?  Sedge is brilliant, and thanks to him, I'm now a little more educated about my Festools!  Great job, and THANKS!

I also appreciated the video on the DF 500 used to place Dominos within a field.  [thumbs up]

Installing blade and setting tension on carvex. One of the guys at the roadshow demonstrated a way of doing it that I had never seen before, which I think many people are probably unaware of.

Thanks. He LOVES doing these.

The instagram site needs labels or an index saying what is covered in each video.

If you click on each video, Sedge provides a quick description along with hashtags (ex. #mft). That's about the extent that you can do on the actual Instagram page itself.

We're planning to make similar videos available on YouTube and festoolusa.com.

I must be missing something.  Can't see the entire presentation because the screen is cut off when watching on a pc.  Why would I want to watch these on a tiny phone screen or less than full screen pc monitor?

Is there a way to adjust the volume when watching an Instagram video on a pc like there is for a Youtube video?

It would make more sense to put these videos on Festoolusa.com and Youtube first.

Festool should stop trying be "hip" and do what makes sense and reaches their largest audience first, then trickle down to the other platforms.

More people use phones than PC by a huge number, Its not being hip, it's staying relevant. Mobile internet surpassed all forms of computer desktop and tablet internet use combined in early 2016 and will never go back.

That being said the videos look the same to me.

It appears these were made on Instagram for Instagram.

I prefer PC use myself. I just got a new dream laptop and it's so nice to use, a desktop replacement that would have filled up a city block when I was a kid, if this kind of computer power was even possible then. His videos sure would look nice on my nice new screen had he recorded them with PC in mind.

Yep. We just shoot them on an iPhone and post directly to Instagram. Quick and dirty. We'll do some similar videos for YouTube, but we want to maintain a similar loose feel.

Sedge has racked up more than 3,000 followers in a month and a half, so somebody seems to like it. (But maybe they're just following him for the crazy Maine accent!)

That does not mean that most Festool tool owners prefer to watch instructional tool videos on a smartphone.

We are not talking about watching an episode of the Kardashians.

What do you think is the average age of someone who owns and uses more than two Festool tools?
