New TS 55 R Video

Looks like a lot of improvements. I think the bevel lock looks stronger. Seems like they have answered the Mafell challenge in several places such as the dual scale, the -1 to 47 degree bevel etc.

nice find, how convenient that this comes up just after "it leaked" out on here!

Can someone possibly list all the improvements over the regular TS55? i don't own any so i can't really tell.
Does it mean the TS55 is discontinued? or will this be an additional more expensive version?

ahw man!! that looks awesome!! now i gotta save up some more to ride that slippery green slope!!

I knew this was coming out but bought the existing model anyway. I would still be curious as to exactly when it will be available and if the price will be more than the now "old" model

Chris

Looks good, only one possible neg whats that fiddley looking knob all about on the depth scale at 1.51 in to the video

I reckon it's a micro-adjust knob.

Looks like some nice improvements, but they missed one very important improvement that they could have made.
You still have to hold the saw on the rail when it is beveled to 45 degrees.

To be fair that is a hard one to overcome, maybe when the blade is replaced with a laser it will be easier to implement.

The saw looks great although that is one improvement I hoped for.

And the BEST feature is NO MORE UL APPROVAL REQUIRED, it will be available in the U.S. at the same time it's released in Europe.
(That's a March 1 fool's joke.)   [big grin]

i dont think it would be that hard to fix. if there was a flat strip that attached to the t track on the rail thats not used for guiding the saw. if that was out over the base of the saw a 1/2" and there were a few little bearings (or guides blocks) that ran against the first stip . that would stop the saw tipping

Thats not where I see the problem if you stop it tipping off the track, how do you stop the track lifting..

It looks really good to me. Not a revolution, but a definite improvement. If I could have waiting to get my TS 55, I would have.

Naturally a good video...

Bevel angles are improved. -1 to 47
Sawing against the wall has been improved. 12mm
Doesn't tip on rail

Now for the most important difference........POWER

Does the saw have a new motor???

Chris .8 metre rail [big grin]try the same thing with a 3 metre rail and the saw moving whilst retained to the inside of the track ie: furthest away from the blade perhaps you are missing my point?

Competition is good in this case, it forces every vendor to keep making even better products. Even if not revolutionary, it's still a step forward and we're not having to buy into multiple "systems". Can't wait for the release of this one, but then again I rather have a tool in hand so I'm not sure if I can hold off for that long.

Hmmm...  Perhaps you haven't stated your point clearly?

If the saw is held down with a short rail, it should work better with a longer, heavier rail.  What am I missing?

Dan.

p.s. The R model looks better than the current saw, but I don't see a reason to replace my TS55.

Lots and lots of nice features that are all evolutionary, not revolutionary.  Back to your question:  Worth the wait?   If you need a saw now, don't wait.  You can always sell a used one a year out and get a very good portion of your money back.  If you don't need the saw now, wait ---- but don't complain about the new one NAINA.   These things take time to implement on a world-wide basis and it takes time to scale up production, distribution, marketing training, etc.
