New TS55 and a few questions

Hi Festoolfriends,  [big grin]

I bought myself a new TS 55 REBQ yesterday, but I have a couple a questions/concerns:

There seems to be a part missing from the systainer, am I right in thinking the saw should come with one Limit Stop? Since there is an empty hole for it in my systainer, but the thing itself ain't there!

Also, I noticed the bottom of sole of the saw was sort of 'dirty', it has black sticky marks/streaks on it, perhaps from a sticker or something? I tried a soft cloth and some mild detergent, but it's really sticky and hard to get it off.
Would rubbing alcohol be ok to clean it?

The scope of delivery may vary by country. On the Festool Netherlands website, here's what's listed as being included.

HW universal saw blade W28

I do not see the limit stop listed.

The saw does not ship with a sticker or anything adhesive on its base. I mild detergent shouldn't hurt anything. If you feel the saw is not in new or acceptable condition, contact your dealer or Festool Netherlands for assistance.

Guess I was somewhat confused since the picture insert on the inside of the lid showed the limit stop.

I got most of the sticky stuff off now, only some slight residu left. But I guess that'll wear off when I use it on the track.

If I received a Festool product and it didn't appear totally new, I'd return it immediately. I have a shop full of Festool products and everyone came completely pristine. They all even had the new tool smell.

I agree that the saw should appear new. Also, I'd be sure the sticky stuff is removed completely. If it rubs off on the guide rail, it might stay on there and spread along the rail during use. Given you don't know what it is and it is not supposed to be there, I'd call the dealer you bought it from at the very least and push him to identify the substance or replace the saw.

Here in the uk the limit stop is not supplied with the saw. You either buy it separately or as part of the guide rail / angle kit.

I got it all off now with some elbow grease. I guess it must have been something that was on the counter, when the saw was unpacked at the dealer to show it to me. No big deal, I'm just a little OCD about my new precious.

This being my first Festool purchase, I can say this stuff sure is addictive, cuz now I want a router too! Guess I'm gonna have to talk to the She-Boss. Perhaps take her out for dinner, work her mood a little bit  [cool]

Great that you got it off before using it. You should be particular. The tools are expensive; great tools, but expensive. It should be perfect out of the box.

Hi Midaso,

The idea of the picture in the systainer is to show you where all the bits should fit even though some of them are optional extras.

The sticky mark sounds wrong to me and it will not have got there at the Festool factory - speak to your dealer.
