Does the Syslite II still have a little folding hook on it, and if so, is it of better quality than the snap-happy one on the original Syslite?

Yes, still a hook. As far as I know, no changes to the exterior of the unit. Also, I've not read about any issues with the hook snapping. Seems ample considering the ligthweight of the SysLite. Unless maybe it was spread beyond its opening size.

Certainly, that was a defect with the ladder.  [big grin] [poke]

Give Festool a call, they're good about warranty issues, which this might be considered.
