My TID18 has terrible run out also. It makes DeWalt look good.

You should print that out on a t-shirt.

I’m debating whether or not to send mine in as warranty or to return on the 30 day guarantee.

Well, the good news is that their turnaround is about one day.  They were lightning fast at repairing a brand new of2200 before I had a chance to turn it on, a brand new Kapex before I had a chance to turn it on, a Pro 5 after using it for ten seconds and.....well, let’s just say they’re fantastic at making lemons into lemonade.

I didn’t purchase mine from Toolnut, but if you did, I’m confident that they can help walk you through the process.

I never got to try them but, to me, they looked like a design from 20 years ago. Saying that, I've never been a fan of Festool drills or drivers. in 2020, I was expecting more from Festool, a lot more actually.

So what exactly is it that changed so much the last 20 years, that Festool drills don't have?

Because my T15 is 12 years old now, and it is still the best drill on the market.

Anti-kickback. Bosch has it, I believe Makita has it too. It's a really nice feature. C15/T15 is powerful enough to damage your wrist under certain circumstances.

Better LED light that doesn't fade the moment you release the trigger.

Also, I wish Festool would add stronger magnets to their magnetic storage. While bits feel somewhat secure on my C15, on the CXS they often fall out of the storage area. Milwaukee's multidriver has way stronger magnets in comparison.

Batteries are way too big, and many of the drill bodies too long, I know that some can have angled attachments etc, as an all day every day user, I just want something I can pickup and used in all situations. The LED’s aren’t anything special either.
I have other makes of drill/drivers that have built in anti kick back, total torque control and many other features that Festool seem to have over looked.

I love most of the Festool range but, just don’t rate their drills, cordless or mains, never have. Similarly, I don’t like Metabo drills either.
I have a vast amount of drills and drivers of all types, they get used in every sense of the word, every day, and on site usually all day. We have been lucky to have had no issues at all with drills, only replacing batteries when the time comes. When we upgrade, our old drills are still working perfectly.
Why would I try and fix a problem that doesn’t exist, going to a product I’m not over excited about.
When I look and hold even the latest Festool drills, they resemble and feel like drills I was using 15-20 years ago.
I spoke to two Festool reps at a tool fair last year, they asked me if I would take part in a survey in exchange for a goody bag. I agreed and would have done so without the goodies.

So, we got to the survey which was mainly drills. My comments were on the same lines as I have made here.
One if the guys was reading my notes as the other put a goody bag together.
I said no offence but, these are my thoughts, and show him I wasn’t a Festool basher, I showed him my Festool warranty list of tools, which adds up to a lot of money.
He said no problem, and told me half of the survey that day and from other days, listed the dislikes I mentioned. He said it helps them develop tools that are what people like and need. So I was a bit surprised to see the latest offerings. Sure there may well be people that love them, or even buy them because they will look no further than Festool.

I meet many Festool owner users on sites, and when any conversation gets to drills, they tell me how great they are. Some of them have never used anything but Festool drills, so you could say this is total faith in a product, or you could say, they don’t know any different as they have never dared buy a tool without a Festool badge on it, and are in no position to judge or compare.
Most of the power tools I buy now, are Festool or Mafell, simply because any employees I of mine, have and prefer to use their own tools, apart from an apprentice. Which is how it should be.

Many of them, have a lot of Festool kit, one who does the majority of kitchen fitting, has just about every tool Festool ever made, including many drills, he loves them!
Each to their own eh?  [wink]

No perceptible run out on my TID 18. So it’s not the standard for the tool, sorry to hear some of you are having this issue.

On a side note, I found today that the TID 18 will not trigger my CTL Mini over Bluetooth. I occasionally use a drill as the remote trigger as I walk around doing clean up and today I discovered that the TID18 will not pair or trigger an already paired battery. The battery was my first Bluetooth, received in promotion with the TID 18 this year. I put the battery in my c18 and all went as normal. . . Slightly weird, not that an impact really needs this functionality. .

My promo battery was dead. BT didnt work, didnt work with TCL3, red blinkink light. I send it 3weeks ago. Yestarday arrived New battery from Service. It works now:) But my impact dont.

We had a question about the TID combo kit and whether a C18 will fit in the Systainer insert. The answer is yes.

Thank you Shane!

Would you be so kind to share the part number of the insert? [emoji41]

That’s the rub.  Literally half the feedback I’ve heard is that it has the worst runout the user has ever experienced.  Likewise, literally half the feedback I’ve heard is that it is the most precise impact driver the user has ever experienced.  Most people don’t have a spare coin to flip right now, let alone the patience to flip said coin. No other power tool manufacturer hands me inconsistencies like this.  Although, I guess you can say Festool has been very consistent about their quality management....

Can anyone comment on when the cordless combo kits will make it to US? Have an order in at local yard since they announced the deals and no word at all on when they might arrive.

Festool seems to be having issues with their suppliers It could be COVID issues but really who knows. Even then they send the tools to different dealers before others . I don't get it myself.

Reviving an old thread to ask if anyone would mind pulling the part number for the foam insert used in the TID/PDC combo kit #576490?  I bought both without systainers and it would be nice to have proper storage.

[member=76805]niallsmart[/member] if you give Festool USA a buzz, they can give you the part number and even sell the insert to you direct 1-888-337-8600.
