I don't know if anyone has done this before, but I'm doing a restoration job and the house has the old "Penn" mortise locks. I used the domino to mortise out the lock boxes on some new doors and it worked like charm. I had to deepen the trench about a half inch with a forstner bit, but other than that it worked great.

Yes a great tactic we use the domino XL to cut in mortice locks on our shop made doors. With the door laying flat, we make the first cuts to our marked lines. Then flip it over and do the same. Then you are smack centre and clean as a whistle. Great adaption.

That's exactly what I did,  worked like a charm.

Check out the New Brit Workshop you tube by Peter Parfitt. Not only does he show the mortice latch but also anexcellent hinge mortising jig for "in situ" use
