New van

Regarding your phone number.....

My experience having my number on my van has never giving me a single job.

I have my number on both sides and rear.    I even get people asking me for my number while my van is right behind me.

People well.... round my area take no notice of van numbers.   People use people who have been recommended by some one. That's how I get my work via recommendation only or more work from previous clients.

Ill be removing my phone number of my van because one I don't get jobs from it so what's the point and two I do think it looks more professional with no phone number on your van.

It's like saying I'm that good I don't need to advertise my number  or something down those lines.

My mate had his number on his old van and he said he only ever got one job from it.   He's not long ago bought a newer van this time he decided not to bother with his phone number.   Said having his logo and name only makes it look less cluttered so keeping it a more clean look and straight to the point.

Maybe they see you and get scared [eek] [big grin]

I've grabbed a business card out of a snazzy little dispenser on the side of a van once - thought it was a great idea but it obviously never caught on (and obviously doesn't do anything for you when you're moving!)

Hi

Driving along the freeway and passing you (or getting overtaken by you) only gives customers a few seconds to get the information from the sides of your van. So a few pointers:

Keep it simple and big on the sides.
More details can be put on the rear since your spending more time reading behind a vehicle then when passing it.
Your logo should tell people what you do, I personally would change it a bit (unless you're just doing roofs).
If you still want your number on the van, skip the "TEL:" and put a "phone icon" there instead.
For your web-page, skip the obvious "http://www" and just put the rest in print.
As for the address (web) once again keep it simple, the address doesen't have to tell customers what you do, that is what they will learn from your web. I would try get an address like "rccj.com" or similar, easier to remember when your sitting at your computer 8 hours later.

Some might disagree but I just see a lot of vans, trucks and cars with too much info on. If you can't take it all in in a few secs. you stop reading, and pick another company, maybe.

Just my [2cents]

Another thing, make the logo/print on the hood mirrored so people can read it in their rear view mirror.

[wink]

Cheers festoolviking I like the idea of the mirrored logo on the hood there is a bit of thinkering to do on the van like should the logo be on the same panel of the van on each side

I don't see why, since you wont be able to see both sides at the same time. Do what ever fits panel-joints the best. Make sure the most important info is visible when sliding doors are opened if you tend to work close to your van with your "mobile workshop" open.

Firstly..good luck on the new venture.  [big grin]
I have my phone number on the side of the van in big print and I have to say I get loads of calls from it.
I don't have the mobile number, I have the landline including the std. This gets me lots of local work because people recognise the code.
The landline transfers to my mobile so I get every call.
Each call I get I ask.."how they heard about me".
I put a QR code on the van because lots of people stand beside it when parked and type in the web address or phone number so I put the QR code on for those who know how to.

As the guys say get a web address sorted and email account with same details.
I use company called Namesco, I use them in another two businesses and they have been great.
Keep the web page and email as the full business name as it reinforces the brand every time you use it.

Personally I wouldn't mirror the logo on the front so the guy your behind can see it.
What about the drivers or pedestrians coming towards you? [tongue]

Anyway it's now your business and if it's comfortable for you then go for it. You can always change these things once your flying!

Thanks Scott for all the help and advice I have qr codes on my cards was thinking of putting it on the van to  once I have the van I'll know what will look good when I have got it
