Build my second wood shad with the domino without screws or nails (except that bolts that hold the construction). Although it it recommended to use the bigger DF700, which i do not own, it is possible to build such a shad which can hold tons of wood (i store about more than 4 tons of wood in that shad). i simply doubled the dowels. The DF500 makes things easy for my as an hobbyist and allows me to do the work which i couldn't accomplish otherwise. It is my favorite tool. (Although i have problems when i try to place them in the middle of an area, where there is no guidance)

Agreed on the Domino.  Nice wood on the shed.  Will you store the wood leaning against the walls, or flat?

Harvey,

i make piles and stack them, leaning against the sides. Between the stack, i leave a gap, about 5-10cm to support them drying.

Nice work! Looks very useful indeed.

I too am a hobbyist. Do you know about the marks on the side of the fence that correspond with the centre of the mortise?
I found this picture already on the internet:

The other option is to mark a line 10mm from the centre of the mortise and align the base of the domino against that line. It is even easier if you clamp a piece of wood to the line and push the base up against it - this is more useful for things like shelves which have multiple dominoes that need to be aligned to one another.

Another thing that I've done in the past to get more strength from the 500 is set it to make the widest cuts, and make my own wider dominos to fit.

yes, that should solve the problem. I was already thinking about some sort of guidance for the Domino to show exactly where the drilling appears.

i feel comfortable, if there is enough place, simply to use 2 dominos.
(To make new dominos you need a router table?)
