That's right, anothe rOneTime Tool from Woodpeckers.  The Straddle Squares are up and ready for preorder.  Expected delivery date is August 2015.  Last day to order is May 4th, just a few weeks away.  Click the link above for video.

3 iterations are available: 3/4", 1-3/4" and a $$ saving set that includes both.

I was looking at this I kind of with the smaller one had a range to say 1-1/16th. Do we know whether or not 3/4" will work for our 3/4" furniture grade plys or is there no tolerance to say get a couple 1/64ths in there?

Official response is range is from 1/4" to 3/4".  Regretfully, and as you know, we don't have any in stock so I can't go 'n give it the ol' checkaroo to confirm.

I measure the maximum width at about 7/8 in. It looks like the limiting factor is the compression of the return spring. I think that if you were willing to deal with a weaker or no spring, you could cut the spring and get more width.

For plywood that is under 3/4" the real question is ...... will the larger model close to a little less than 3/4".

It appears that it will. Watch the video linked in the original post. It's spring loaded.

Cheers,
Frank

The kick in the nuts on this is that you really need both. If the larger one went from 1/2" an 1 1/2" it would cover most uses. A 1/4" to 1/2" of overlap between the two would have been nice. Instead you have to buy both.

I have one. The smallest you can make it is just a little over 11/16". It works on 3/4" material but it wont grasp tightly with the spring.

Seems to me I could make this out of wood if I needed to in about 15 minutes.

I don't need one as I rarely need to mark for tenons but as always... A very nice looking tool.

Cheers. Bryan.
