My fellow woodworkers,

I am a TV producer and have created a new woodworking show for public television called Woodworking Together.  It’s the first new woodworking show to come to public television in more than 10 years and features the very first woman to host a true woodworking show, Boston-area cabinetmaker Gail O’Rourke.

Our show is geared toward woodworkers of all skill levels, with a special emphasis on beginners.

Woodworking Together will premiere nationwide on PBS stations in January of 2008.
You can view the show’s “trailer” by clicking on the following link…

We are currently seeking corporate sponsors to help underwrite our first season on-air.  If you are interested in helping to sponsor Woodworking Together, please send an email to producerboy@verizon.net.

Also, if you would like your local PBS station to carry this program, please be sure to call them and say that you want them to carry Woodworking Together from American Public Television!  Local PBS station information can be found athttp://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/index.html.

Happy woodworking!!!

Maybe Gail can borrow the idea of John Lucas by hiring a few handy ex-Chippendales to liven-up her show. This to get the ladies interested so they are more compliant when new tools are "needed". ;-))

Toolpig,
I think it's somewhat ironic that you walked into a forum full of Festool users and did not know that Amy Devers (Festtool user extraordinaire) has already been hosting a woodworking show on the DIY network.

I watched the clip.  I honestly don't see how this show is "geared toward woodworkers of all skill levels." At least from the trailer, it is apparent that this show is geared toward beginners only, and a specific kind of beginner at that.  There is nothing wrong with that, I'm just commenting on your description of the show.

While I enjoy watching her and I may have missed some of her segments, she doesnt do much woodworking and I have yet to see her use any Festool, even tho the Systainers are in the background. I have seen her do quite a bit with , steel, MDF, lucite and bending ply but not good ole wood...it is almost as if she avoids it. Don't get me wrong. I like her and have a signed poster from her that is in the shop right next to Norm's.

Hi John,
I understand what you're saying about Amy Devers.  However, go ahead and watch the clip of this new show.  You won't see that much more "woodworking" there, either.  A bunch of pieces of plywood getting screwed together (not with a Festool, either!).
Basically, I think the original post is a form of spam.

I don't really watch Amy Devers' show much, but I remember her using an ETS sander, the Trion jigsaw, and one of the drills. Just thought I'd mention that...

I really wish one of the networks would come up with a show that was more advanced woodworking. I'm a little sick of the same old things being shown over and over. At least David Mark's show would cover some new ground once in a while.

I seriously doubt I'll ever watch the new show that is being talked about here.

It might be kind of cool for Festool to sponsor a show. They could have appearances by Jerry Work and other people that have extensive knowledge of their tools on it. I'd watch something like that... They could come film me in my shop, but they'd have to do some major editing to remove all of my creative usage of the English language :)
