New workshop

Hi everyone,

I have been flat out of late building the shed which will become my workshop. The shed itself is 14m x 8m with a 14m x 6m awning at the front. This enables us to drive up to the shed and remain under cover if the weather is foul.

It's early days. Currently I am adding a water tank beside the shed and clearing an area so that I can move my 20" shipping container alongside the shed.

Future plans include internally lining and insulation for the walls, off grid power, and a functioning bathroom. I'm also planning to epoxy the floor as others have done before going too much further.

I also managed to pick up some solar panels, the installation will be off grid with a possible pass thru connection for the inverter in the future. We have built the shed prior to building the house, so it may be a temporary home too for a while. But that is a while away yet.

If I can figure out how to add more pics to each post I will do so.

Wow! That looks like a great space. Can’t wait to see your pictures through the process. Best of luck

Very nice slab, need some inside pictures  [smile]

If you plan to live there for a while you won't be able to call it a shed anymore :p

Hey Graham, congrats on what looks like a great building.  I had to pull out the calculator to convert to square feet and have to say I now must admit to being  envious of your space  [big grin] .

That is what my grandparents did when they retired to the family farm in Kansas almost 40 years ago:  they first built the shop building and lived in that for a year or so while they built the house.  I was in high school then and used to go visit in the summers and was immediately put to work  [eek] , turns out I am glad I got to be a part of it.

That looks awesome, Graham. If I had a shed like that with a functioning bathroom, I might never get the house built. Who needs a house when you have that?

Hi Everyone,

Here are some inside pictures of the shed. I too am still getting used to the space, at the moment there are two IBCs, a tractor, the ride on, and some miscellaneous stuff in the shed.

I've also been working alongside the shed so I can put in the water tank. It will be a 15000L tank which should be sufficient for washing down equipment and providing running water to the shed. It's been fun though, I've now hit rock so have been on the jackhammer breaking it out.
