Oh my God. I saw a TS55 with guide rail used for the first time last week by a kitchen installer where I was fitting a wood floor..... Now I am the proud owner of one myself,  and have created a wish list including a Kapex and MFT. Have really enjoyed the forum over the last few days and can see  what a fantastic resource it provides for Festool junkies/obsessives. Never has a brand, other than Porsche, got under my skin so badly. What have I done?!!  Look forward to communicating with all you guys on here. Best

Welcome to the slippery slope as we call it! If you do some searches on the ATF55 and the TS55 you will find much useful information on getting great results from your new tool. Also download a copy of Rick Christopherson's TS55 Manual which is much more comprehensive and informative than the factory manual. John Lucas' Woodshop Demos site has a ton of Festool demonstrations on it that are invaluable.I will poke around and see if I can get some links for you.

Thanks, John that would be great. Have found myself becoming very obsessed with all of this, and very happy to have some bedtime reading, especially anything to do with Festool. Collecting an MFT next week....You guys are really lucky in the US. The already high Festool prices are CRAZY here in the UK, ($900 USD) - so it becomes a very expensive itch to scratch. Ah, the slippery slope...... :)

Welcome!
The thing about Festool is that you are buying a tool that does exactly what it says it does, first time every time. Festools (of which I have a few) allow me to produce projects that I previously thought impossible, but now...

Regards,

Rob

Thanks Guys.  Have spent rather more time today on the 'net than I would care to admit to. I particularly enjoyed and have benefitted from Rick's Manual (thanks John) on the TS55 and some reading on the MFT's by Jerry Work. I had placed an order for a (now discontinued) MFT800 but I think the increased work height of the MFT/3  would be better and I perhaps would regret having the smaller size anyway. My next purchase was to be the Kapex, but I know think I need to buy into the 'system' sooner raher than later and will buy with the table some dust extraction.  Bear in mind this is for wood floor installations and will be dragged around - any recommendations on the CT gratefully received along with best value accessories (D6?). Good to hear from you Forrest, enjoyed your pics in the gallery - you need to get out more!!
