Kind of a silly question. I just received my new TS 75 EQ with a 55" guide rail yesterday. I adjusted the gibs/cams to take the wiggle out between the saw and the guiderails. When I pull the saw back on the rail it squeals like crazy. No noise when pushing forward. I was thinking of using some wax paper of the guide rail. Am I doing something wrong.
Thanks
Joe
Hi Joe and [welcome] to both the Green Kool Aide of Festool and FOG!
There is compromise needed when adjusting the gibs on Festool track saws. With some experimenting you should be able to split the difference. However, many of us lift the TS saw off the guide rail when returning it to starting position. This way the gibs can be slightly tighter when pushing the saw. That is when it is best to have very little play.
Something which concerns me reading your fine post is that you shared receiving a 55" FS 1400/2 guide rail with a TS75. Standard as part of the TS75 is the 75" FS 1900/2 guide rails. Although the 55" rail is just long enough to make 48" cross cuts using a TS55 saw, because the base plate of the TS75 is longer, you need the 75" rail to cross cut 48" with the TS75.
