Newbie question

Hi all,
Total Festool newbie here. I just bought my first Festool tool, a CT26 dust collector with all kinds of accessories. I think this is going to lead to a second mortgage on my home...

I did a quick search on this and I figured someone might have a quick answer to it: Which Systainers will fit on the top of my CT26 (it has the hose garage on it).

Hi, welcome to the forum.

All of the "regular" systainers will fit. The first generation with the 4 latches, the T-loc, and the sys³ T-loc.

The wider midi-systainers won't latch directly, but you can mount them on top of a T-loc (not on a sys³ T-loc)
(Maybe too obvious, but the small mini systainers won't connect.)

They also sell sets of accessories in a Systainer

Some small stoff can also be stored in the hose garage. I usually have a brush, crevice tool, etc. in there. If you want to mount a Systainer with the T-Loc of the hose garage... don't get a Sys3 112, because then the stupid handle will stick out. Well, you can rip it off ofcourse..

For the cleaning tools storage Systainer you might want to go bigger than you think. More tools for the vac often appear and need a home.

Want to spend more money? Get the Bluetooth module, and at least a 5 meter D36 hose for cleanup and use with certain tools in the future like a track saw. The D27 hose the CT26 comes with will plug into the end of the D36 making for a nice long hose.

As you can return items for 30 days no questions asked, Festool does sell cleaning sets already in a Systainer. If you used them then could just swap the new for used keeping the parts you already used.

I keep a SYS-MFT on top of each Festool vac. It provides a surface to clamp to, a surface to cut on, a place to keep extra items like tape measures & pencils and a surface to mount a vise on. I can carry the MIDI's around by using the slot in the middle for a handle.

Yeah about that...

I noticed on my new Midi-I that without Systainer on top.. carrying it by the hose-garage handle brings quite some flex in the material. Does not feel as sturdy as carrying the CTL 22 or 26 by their handle.

Had to say; bag was loaded with aerated concrete dust and debris after removing ceramic tile... so quite heavy, but still. I was like 'will this break...?'

Once you get a longer hose and really start using the Bluetooth remote you are going to realize you can't live without it. I almost never use the switch on my vacs.

I was thinking a little bigger even. I have a SYS-4 that I have outgrown and I do not keep any hoses inside it, and once I get a chance vac stuff will get moved into a SYS-5 possibly with shelving layers inside. A SYS-4 is the equivalent of a M337 Systainer which would be the smallest I would recommend. For instance I store the wet filter inside it's packaging in the Systainer, along with other knick knacks and adapters that combined take up a lot of space. Learned from the Sedge videos a good place to store a spare dust bag is under the current bag in use inside the vac.

Cheese, I can barely pickup my SYS-MFT by itself as it is loaded with all the MFT accessories with a SYS-3 bottom, about to become a layered SYS-4 so I can make it even heavier. I like your vise

Only Festool Tools have a no questions asked 30 day return policy. Tools are defined by a serial number. Returning accessories is at the discretion of the dealer. I believe cleaning sets are considered accessories.

Another option I use is to have a bunch of frequently-used tools (pencil. tape measure, small adjustable square, hammer, screwdrivers, pair of Vise-Grips, etc.) in an open-top Sys3 Systainer (part No. 204865), either on top of the CT, or as the top systainer on a stack on a roller cart (Part No. 204869). It fits under the MFT and it's very handy.

BTW the Bluetooth module and remote has the highest utility vs cost of any Festool product!
Also: when you buy a track saw, get the "holey" rail, not the regular one, as you will likely buy the LR32 system if you're going to build Euro-style cabinets.
