this one i just finished, it took 5 days from start to finish including planning, knock down, put together, prime, paint, drawers (undermount slides) and made doors.

thanks again to festool for their line of tools to help speed up the time it takes to make these units.

this was built in a home office and will be used for office stuff, nope no tv in big opening.

michael  yep I painted also, the worst part i hate to do.... I use  behr enamel undercoat as the primer,  sand and caulk then use sherwin william super paint semi gloss... brush and mini roller.

pulls were a little high, that is where she wanted them.

Nice job. You are machine!
Curious why you used an enamel undercoat as the primer? Is that an oil based product? Because I hate painting corners and shelf holes get plugged up I try to paint the components before I assemble. It does slow up the production a bit.
I do like the super paint. It's very thick but dries quickly.
Is that top one long piece or two joined? If you joined two pieces how were they joined? Again just curious.

Tim

Tim. It is a water base primer it just works good. And yes the holes get tight and the shelf pins just need a tapping in

The 2 sides are separate they are set up there and then I just built another box 24" x 60"  and slid it up and screwed it in to the sides  simple done deal. Then added trim and faced nailed it

The bead board in the center was glued to wall and nailed due to opening 60" and bead board panels 48".

Very nice!  It looks like what my wife would like me to make for our dining room.

What materials did you use?  I haven't decided if plywood or mdf would work best if I paint it. I would like to use cherry and cherry plywood but the wife wants it painted white to match the trim in the rest of the house.

Tom

tom,  I used  birch cabinet ply and popular for the trim.  you can get it at lowes or hd for about 46 a sheet or go to a cabinet supplier lumber yard and sometimes get it for 31-35 a sheet.  some is usa made and the less expensive is usually china made out at sea, but some is pretty good made.  do not buy the less expensive stuff at hd or lowes it is crap.

i never use mdf for cabinets.
