Do any Australians know why all the new cordless tools are taking so long to released in Australia.  Its a premium product yet there appears no interest in keeping up with the newest releases in Europe and North America. ??? ???

Had a meal with my Festool rep today, latest advice is cordless track saw etc will be available in September.Apparently the delay is purely to be sure the production can supply the demand in the larger markets first.

Plus we're a bit of an "inventory backwater"  - they'll want to clear some stock I reckon.

You'd think the very attractive Metabo bundles with 5.2Ah batteries would give them a bit of hurry up!

[welcome]

btw [big grin]

Kev.

Did the rep mention anything about the range of cordless drills with 4.2Ah batteries we are missing out on.  You would think that nearly a year after the release of these cordless dills and the integration of Protool that we would have caught up with the rest of the world

We didnt speak specifically about this but based upon previous conversations i think Kev is on the money with the need to clear some inventory.

Even now retailers who are not full premium outlets are barred from carrying some stock items until Protool units are sold.

Not sure this is a great strategy but its what we have.

I would expect some more Pro tool specials in coming months.

BTW Makita 4 and 5ah bateries are now available along with some updated tools to go with them,so the 4.2 ah batteries and drills are becoming catch up items rather than setting the standard.

They do seem to hold back release dates so as they can push the new items during the quarterly promotions.  I was informed for example the BHC18 will be released for the August - December catalouge promotion.

Yes indeed, and as Kev said there are also new Metabo drill specials.

I think Mike has previously informed us of August release dates.

It is also interesting that I got a supplementary 2013/14 catalogue at my favourite dealer around four weeks ago which features most of the new goodies.

And yet none are yet featured on the AUS website.

This same  Premium dealer, when I visited  week before last appeared to have sold their Protool stock apart from a few accessories at clear out prices.

We may have a situation where some of these new tools are released
in NA before Aust.  [eek] [eek] [eek]

And remember there appears to be no promotions this quarter.

It actually sucks there are none this quarter, was hoping to get the CMS-OF1400 but looks like the Amazon USA may get the business for the table set (P00111) as its going to work out $1800 cheaper including changing out the NVR switch, duty and shipping.

I looked at that option ... I'm always interested in saving a big chunk of cash, but it didn't work out as positive as it initially looked.

I went local and got the CMS-TS75 bundle, the CMS-OF module and the rear table ... all with a 5% discount due to a demo promo. When you take out the value of the TS75 and TS75 CMS module from what I paid, the $1,625 + exchange + freight forwarding + local duty (and add power conversion) doesn't look that appealing to me. Plus no warranty!

If you've got a way of sneaking it into a container backfill and avoiding freight and duty you may see a viable saving, but otherwise it's just a lot of hassle IMO.
