Non-Festool rip blade for TS 55 kerf?

I need a ripping blade for the TS 55. Something better than the included 48T blade for cutting up rough plywood, OSB, etc. I'd like to save some money over the Festool panther 12T or universal 28T blade, so I was looking at Oshlun and Freud.

Does anyone know if any manufacturers make a 2.2mm kerf rip blade? I know the Festool TS 55 blades are all 2.2mm kerf now. I only have the included guide rail and don't want to use a 2.5mm kerf blade and make the splinter guard inaccurate.

Oshlun's 28T seems to still be 2.5mm kerf.

Freud's 28T and 14T say 2.5mm on the blade, but the 14T description on the site says 0.087" (which is 2.2mm)http://www.freudtools.com/index.php/products/product/LU87R006M20. I e-mailed them for clarification on this.

Hi itasor!

Check out CTM blade K16024H-X10..

I don't have a blade suggestion just a reminder that kerf width isn't the only factor. The thickness of the blank/body/disc the teeth are attached to is also important.

Many years ago I bought a Forrest blade for my ATF 55. The Forrest kerf is 2.8mm wide but the body is much thicker than the Festool blades and the Forrest teeth overhang the body less so even though the kerf is wider the teeth missed the splinter guard by about .2mm.

+1 on the Tenryu blades- bought a cross-cut version in February to try.  Reason I tried it was because I got one of their gold medal blades for my table saw and loved it.  All I can say is- WOW!  Very clean cut and it just glides through the wood.  Very pleased and will be getting their rip version next.

Regards,
Gerald

I'm curious to hear Freud's response.

Somebody's screwed up on this one and it's even different then the last screwup.

My freud blades are printed with 2.2mm , .087" which is correct.  However they also say 3/32" which it is not.  2.2 = .087" but that is not 3/32"

The new blades make absolutely no sense.  2.5mm , .093", 3/32"  [eek] [eek] [eek]
none of those are even remotely equal to each other.  Well ok, .093 is within a couple of thousandths, but still.

And , if your marketing to a festool user your kerf needs to be 2.2mm.

Look at Tenryu blades.

Thanks! I went with the Tenryu PSW-16028CBD2 (28 tooth). Should be fine for some of the rougher plywood cutting. $34.50 shipped. I decided to skip the 12T or 14T blades as I've read they can chew up the splinter guard on the guide rail. I'm surprised that the other manufacturers like Oshlun haven't moved to 2.2mm and I'm REALLY surprised that Freud can't seem to get their act together and label the track saw blades properly (or put the right specs on their site). I searched for reviews and found people complaining about this same thing from a few years ago, so they've had plenty of time to fix it!
