Oak Sideboard

This is a solid Oak sideboard i made for a architect last year and finally got back to photo it this week, the Oak had been stored in the house for a year previous so was well acclimatized The large drawers are birch ply domino together and the small drawers are dovetailed. All the draw fronts and doors are mitered and no end grain is seen.

Really great work here, lowkey design accentuates the material, nice light falling on the surface makes it all seem silkysmooth..

Thanks, it is a great design, what you cant see that there are doors to hide the wifi router and a hidden door to put the car keys. also at the far end from the picture the large door is for shoe storage.

Thanks for the compliments Wow and Mike_aa. It took about two weeks to build, I am a full time furniture maker so probably about 90 hours, Most of my cutting is done on my Felder K500 which is a great saw for accuracy. Then finished with a hand plane and block plane on the end grain miters.

The large flat door at the far end opens for shoe storage, there is a radiator in the open area which is kept down low as to not warp the oak, There is another door below the draw you can see open and two hidden doors under the open draw at 90 deg to the draw, also the top section with the dovetailed drawers is made of long  sections of Oak so the grain can "waterfall" down the sides.

Simply beautiful in execution and attention to detail. Not to mention a great way to hide the radiator, spruce up and entrance and gain a lot of storage.
