Very skillful work, what technique did you use to get the shelf in, spilling or scribing? would have thought scribing would be a pain in the rump.

its just a lath with a point on

if you get some board alittle smaller that what you need to scribe it  and place it in the opening then get the lath and place it point first onto the wall and draw round the lath onto the board,

keep drawing round the lath every inch or so all the way round.

then place the board over the material you want to fit in the opening then if you hold the lath over the marks you made whilst drawig round, then mark the point on the new material and you end up with a dot to dot to cut to a perfect fit

if that makes sence......

edit found some pics and better explination

Another reason why I love the FOG.  Learned something new (again).

Really a great project, and a great fit.

Tim,

Your link didn't work so I fixed it and the one above should work.

Woodguy7,

Very nice job. Was it your idea to put in the drawer.  I love the leather liner, it is a great touch. Is that common in your part of the woods?

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve

Yes it was my idea & the client loves that sort of thing so it was always going to be a done deal.  The leather is not common at all, in fact it was the first time i have done it.  I usually use self adhesive felt but i have a whole leather hide & thought i would give it a try.  Stuck down really well with Titebond Dark wood glue.  Did about six samples with different glues but this one was the best.

Woodguy.
