OBSOLETE - Making a post

Hi guys

Can someone help me .im putting together a post of my workbench build .ive been taking photos from day one so will prob end up with about 30 pictures .

Is this too many .and how do I put them in order with comments in the post

Also would it be better to just post finished bench (hope to finish this weekend )and add photos of specific parts of the build if anyone is interested

I believe you can only add 10 pictures in a single post, but you can post as many times as needed to get them all up.

Start by adding them in the order you want them to appear. Click on 'attachments and other options' just below where you enter your text. Select as many photos from your HD as you want. I'll use 3 for this example. When you are done adding the photos, you will see some entires in the text area that looks like this:

{attachimg=2]
{attachimg=3]

Note: I had to change the initial bracket to a parenthesis so the code would display. This is the code that places full-size images on your page. (If you choose thumbnails the code is slightly different).

Now, insert whatever text and spaces you'd like before or after each image:

This is image one:
{attachimg=1]

Image two:
{attachimg=2]

And image three:
{attachimg=3]

And so forth until you're done.

When you click on the 'Post' button, here is what you'll see:

This is image one:
[attachimg=1]

Image two:
[attachimg=2]

And image three:
[attachimg=3]

Please ask if you need more help, and post LOTS of pictures. We *love* pictures!

What about editing and resizing .i think I've read something about not making them too big .

The photos are a combination of iPhone iPad and cannon camera

Suppose I would be better off making them all into one file first .as they are all stored on the devices .would this all be better done on the MacBook .as I do tend to just use the iPad

Resizing your images to something like 1280x800 would probably be ideal. That's a nice size to view on most computers and it doesn't waste server space with a needlessly large image. If you select 'export' as an option from Preview on your MacBook, you can tell it what size you'd like the exported images to be. You can also easily crop the image from within Preview.

If you can't resize an image, or if you miss one, I believe Shane made a modification to the forum so that the size of an individual image will not exceed 2000 pixels wide. (Shane - correct me if I didn't get that right? I'm pretty sure that's what you told me?)

Mick you could also use a program such as PDQ (free Ap) which puts more than one picture within a 'frame'. You can use programs such as AutoResize (free Ap) after PDQ to reduce file size. However I did not on the example below.

On the FOG each frame is then treated as 1 image file.

So far all my images and videos published on the FOG have been taken and edited/manipulated and then uploaded using an IPad.

To add a bit to the above. You need to choose the type of insert using the drop down  that is located just to the right of the Browse button. EX- "Insert Full Size" the picture will appear in the post in the spot where the {attachimg#2} is positioned. And if you need to move the image position, you can just cut and paste  (or retype) the bracket insert to what ever place you need it. That way you can tell where to add spaces and text.  Currently, thumbnail versions of the pictures are automatically added to the end of the post regardless of what you choose.

Yes, resizing is a good idea. A surprisingly "small" kb image will fill the screen.  Resizing so that the long side is not more than 999 px works well. Also resizing, to a small enough size, generally fixes all the sideways and upside down picture problems.

I had made some adjustments to the forum about a week ago that should help with images. The forum will automatically resize images that are exceptionally high resolution down to 2000 pixels max in width and/or height. Also, there were some adjustments made to accommodate large file size attachments. In the past, members might get a blank screen after trying to post really large file size attachments. While the adjustments I made won't necessarily make it so you can upload multiple huge files, it should overall improve issues with attachments.

No it's actually beach wow .as I've said before I've taken photos all through the build
It actually started out as some rejected door linings from a job we did [attachimg=2]

My plan is to compile a complete post when it's finished .but I got a bit exited as I learnt  how to do an inline post lol
