all settings are proper
but not getting notifications of responses to threads I subscribe too...
any idea?  thx

I see that you have a gmail account.  Definitely look in your spam or junk folders.  Gmail has on more than one occasion fallen out of love with emails coming from the forum.

TY Peter
what's odd is, I always check my spam when these things happen
but FOG responses always came to my INBoX, so did not even suspect Spam issue, and assumed it was the FOG server.
hopefully solved now, thx for the wake up call... hee hee

I've read a few posts with people having trouble with notifications - I recently stopped receiving them myself. In fact, I can't even reactivate my original FOG account because iCloud mail seems to be rejecting everything coming from this forum. That's why I have a _2 after my name now. I looked to see if there was an SPF record for festoolownersgroup.com and there isn't. Adding this will likely solve 99%+ notification issues for everyone. It asserts that a particular IP address is authorized to send on behalf of a domain name. Without an SPF record, receiving mail servers have no idea if the message came from a legitimate source.

In any case, I had been falling back on my gmail account for this forum and now that is no longer receiving notifications as well. I've checked the spam folder and it's empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For what it's worth as a data point, I've had no issues receiving notifications for a subscribed thread and a subscribed sub-forum.  I'm using Yahoo mail for notices.

I've been having issues with the email notifications for quite a while also, but thought it might have been a problem on my end.  I use Gmail and the last FOG notification I got was on 7/16/2022.  Prior to that it looks like that last notification was received on 5/16/2022.

Can this be looked into please?

Seth

About 45-60 days ago I suddenly no longer received notifications and then about a month ago, I started to receive notifications again without doing/changing anything. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Is there a minimum number of posts needed to get notifications? I’m new and I haven’t gotten any notification emails. . .

Could this be related to each persons ISP and not the forum?

Just as a point of reference - everyone in this thread who has mentioned not currently getting notifications is a gmail user.  Perhaps it is a gmail issue?  I know that eons and eons ago - we are talking years and years ago there was an issue with gmail and these types of notifications.

Very, very, like 99% likely.

Google routinely blocks emails from small or independent providers and does not let the user know in any way. Most times the emails just end up in spam, but commonly they are just dropped with not user notification.

They do this partially out of ignorance /they do not consider independent email servers "trusted" ../ but more as plausible deniability business practice to force customers move to big providers, making independent email servers "unreliable" from the user's perspective.

Little can be done with this except avoiding Google for anything critical. Which is easier said than done these days.

I have gmail as well. Not even in my Spam folder. . .good thing I looked. The IRS is freezing my social security number if I don’t pay the fine with Amazon gift cards 😂

It also occurs with iCloud which is why I'm now twistsol1 instead of twistsol

I started a thread a few days ago.  Initially, I got notifications.  But yesterday there were several posts and I got no notifications.

So whatever is going on, has not be resolved as of this morning.

I just toggled the notification “off” and then back on.  I will watch to see if that bandaid works.

Can confirm my notifications work.

This was sent a couple seconds after a post to the thread, so the FOG "side" looks to work OK.

The mail did not even get a spam score in the header.

Context:
I have an aggressive spam filter policy enabled (tagging at a way, way lower score than is default on spamassasin). This indicates there was nothing obvious wrong with the email server sending nor with the content of the message. As far as general spam traits go, that is ..

Hope helps.

Yes and no.  The blocking is definitely being done by gmail and iCloud but it is because of the missing SPF record. Only takes a few minutes to add it. Most hosting services will tell you what to add to your dns zone TXT record.

[member=71429]DerickC[/member] , would you be so kind as to pass this along to the it guys and see if they can investigate and correct if correction is needed.

Thanks.

Peter

Thx so much for this contribution... I assume u mean, the FOG needs to modify this, not users hosting services?  sorry if this is an elementary question.  This has been a mystery on quite a few forums I participate in.  thx again.

Oh... also, I never have anything in my SPAM folder, I check all the time, so the notifications are being dropped....
