Just thought I would pass this information in case some of your are interested. I have been on the hunt for a cordless sliding miter saw. I love not being tethered to cords especially for quick cuts and projects. The real only choice we have in the USA are the Makita 7 1/2" 18v sliding miter saw. I actually ordered it and wasn't very impressed and returned it. It was a very well built tool and would actually be perfect for cutting thin stock if your only doing trim work. What I think holds it back is the 2200 RPM which causes it to cut a lot slower and strain, especially in anything greater than 3/4". So In looking I stumbled across a new miter saw by Metabo. It runs off their 18v 5.2ah batteries and it has a blade RPM of 4200 and supposedly is directly comparable to a corded saw of similar size. Of course it is not released in the USA because all the most innovative tools start in the UK and often times never make it here like the cordless TS55. So I found a large tool company called "toolstop" that will actually ship tools to the USA for reasonable rates. I was not charged tax and the shipping of the saw was around $76. It claims it will get to the USA in 3 days. I am in no way affiliated with toolstop, I just wanted to pass the information of anyone else is also interested in something similar.
