I bought a router (OF 1010 EQ), and was playing around with it a bit.  I noticed that when I plunge it to do anything, it sticks, and I have to turn it off, unplug it, and physically grab the bottom part and pull it back to where it should rest.  I've read through the manual a couple of times, and I think I'm missing something.

Is this simply a case of it needing some lubrication, and if so what type is best for this?  Or is there some knob or setting that prevents it from easily plunging and returning?

The round knob across from the handle with the trigger is the depth lock turn it clockwise (I think) to release it. If you all ready tried this the plunge shafts are probably covered with pine resin. I would clean them with a solvent and then lubricate with a dry lubricant.

My 1010 needed lub after about a year, it made all the difference. I didn't have a dry lub on hand so I used a light oil and wiped it clean.

Thanks for the info... I was wondering if I had done something wrong with it (I actually did bother to RTFM before plugging it in, haha) but couldn't figure out what it might have been.  I'll try that out.

How did your 1010 work out after you cleaned and lubricated the columns?
My 1010 got pretty sticky in it's plunging very quickly and i was only routing baltic birch. I wiped some Tri Flow Teflon lube on the columns and it freed up nicely.
