OF 1400 and routing with guide rail

I was looking at the video on the Festool USA website because I am planning on cutting some dados.  I was watching the video and it appears that the router does not sit directly on the wood.  I would think that this creates a potential problem with not getting the dado to the proper depth in the wood due to some space between the router and the work piece. 

Is this assumption that I am making true?

Hi Chuck,

On Festool routers bit height is set by referencing off of the top of the work surface, not off of the base plate of the router.  So grove depth is not effected by the guide rail holding the router base above the top of the wood.
