First I have to thank you for a great forum with a huge knowledge base, I have red it for quite a while now.

I have just bought a Festool OF 1400 EBQ router.
Problem is that the depth stop rod has a vertical play of 0.5-1mm, when the depth stop clamping lever is locked (i.e. it's possible to slightly move the rod up and down).
Is this normal, or should I try to have it repaired?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the FOG!  Is the rod actually slipping or is the play in the turret stop?  The turret stop movement is normal and you get around that when setting up your depth of cut by pressing down to eliminate the movement.

Thank you for the fast reply!
The play is in the rod.
I have a play in the turret as well, but it was expected already before I purchased the router :)

To be more precise:
It feels like the play is in the fine adjustment, part no 492416. It has a small play when I try to move the rod vertically.

First thing that I would do would be to clean the rod and also the locking clamp.  If you remove the screw and the clip shown by the arrows you will be able to slide the rod up until the plastic piece on top of the rod hits a little lip at the top of the router.  Put a screwdriver under the rod and gently pry away away from the router while with the other hand applying pressure to get the plastic piece past the lip.  The rod will then be able to slide up and loose.  Clean the rod and do not lubricate.  Also take the clamp loose and clean the brass piece.  Reassemble and see if that helps.

Thank you for the good explanation how to remove and clean the rod.
But as the router is brand new, not even started yet, I don't think it helps to clean the rod.

And the problem is not related to a slip between the rod and clamping mechanism, it's play in the fine adjustment.
I have tried to show in the picture below, with red arrows, between which metal pieces there is a play. It's between the two "metal cylinders" you either move from or towards each other when turning the fine adjustment knob.

Is it normal to have a small play of ~0.5mm in the fine adjustment part (part number 27 in EKATS in the scheme for OF 1400)?
