Just got an OF 1400 and was looking at the accessories on an online store. I noticed the Router Support Foot (438608). However, I do not see if it can be used for the OF 1400. Some of the description mentions the OF 1010 but does not specifically state it will fit/work with the OF 1400. It also mentions the need for a knob (436195) on the OF 1010 that comes with the router itself.

Is this support foot something that I can use on my OF 1400? Do I need to buy another knob as well?

This looked like an accessory that I could use in a couple of future projects.

The scope of delivery has changed on the 1400 over the years.  I can't find a reference on whether or not it is currently included.  But several times here I have read about it hiding in the systainer quite effectively.

If you don't have one, the part number is different than the one for the 1010.

Here is the portion of the ekat for the 1400.  You will need parts 58 and 59.

I bought my OF1400 earlier this year and it included the foot(59) and knob(58).

The owners manual doesn't state it's an accessory or "sometimes included in delivery scope" and it's not sold as an accessory along with the copy rings, fence, chip catcher , ect.....

That means it should come with the router.

Huh. I'll have to check it out when I get home. I know I didn't see it in the box when I did the initial inventory. I don't remember seeing it attached to the router either, but then again I didn't look real hard.

Mine is not the brand new model. It is an iteration or two older as I picked it up on the Festool Recondition site. I'm guessing a 2015 model since it came in a 90 years systainer.

Thanks for the replies.

Oh boy, another recon sale gem.

That obviously wasn't inspected by Festool trained technicians.  Or they just aren't trained well enough.

At any rate, there clearly seems to be a problem with how Festool processes these tools through their system before they are sent out in the recon sale.

-or-

Festool’s high performance and quality standards are slipping.

Check the serial number plate, there should also be a build date listed.

I see that the support foot and knob are included with the guide stop (492601). This makes sense, as you will need these when working on the rail.

[member=182]Corwin[/member] is correct for the North American package. The OF 1400 does not include the support foot or the knob used to secure it; both parts are included with the guide stop. The OF 1010 includes the guide stop, support foot and knob.

I can confirm Mr. Wong's information. I contacted TylerC and the informed me (very prompt I might add) that it does not come with my particular model of router.

I did a check and mine was made in 6/15.

Last night I was able to get it out and put some 3/4" radius round overs on a few cutting boards. I am absolutely impressed with the dust collection on it! I didn't have any cleanup afterward which was nice.

A couple of months ago I bought a cleaning set with the 36mm non-AS hose. I noticed slightly better dust collection with my TS55, very slight. However, I think the payoff will be when I use it on the OF 1400. I haven't been able to play around with it much, but I can see where the dust collection will a little better and also the non-AS hose is a ton easier to manipulate than the 27mm AS hose.

Yes, the D36 hose over the D27 makes a huge DC improvement on the OF1400.

Personally I think the foot should come with the guide rail adapter since that's when it is needed.  Not sure maybe it does?

It should come with the router imo.

Thanks to the increments it has much broader use than simply being an outboard support for the router.

The guide rail stop or adapter Festool 492601 comes with the support foot, since that's where you need it if you use the adapter the "proper" way. The edge of the router base rides on the guide rail and you need the foot to make the base level again.

I like to use the adapter backwards and run the router on the other side of the rail (on the side without the splinter strip). This way the router base sits flat on the work piece, so no need for the foot.

curious that the newly packaged foot for the the newly released imperial scaled OF1400 - IS STILL IN METRIC  [doh]  ::)

I'd be  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[  if this were my project.

Thanks for the tip!  I hadn't thought of using it on the other side of the rail.
You don't have to worry about routing into the rail if you're using it on that side.  Genious!

OP - definitely pick up the guide stop kit.  It's super handy if you already have rails.  Great for things like making dados.
