OF1010 accessories?

Trying to understand the usage and different purposes of the "table widener" - 493139 for $97 and the "extension table" - 488756 for $33.50. They both offer an offset base. The cheap version has the handle/knob with a thin plate and the expensive one has the rotating chip catcher/deflector with a thicker base. Is there any reason to have both? Seems both are for edge trimming operations. Thanks.

I don't have the OF1010, or either accessory that you mentioned, I do have the wide base for my OF1400.  It is useful in many situations; dovetail jig, edge routing, etc.  Anytime that you want to move the center of gravity away from the edge and onto the material.

I have the one with the knob, it's not bad for the price. It attaches to the base with a couple of screws or you can just use the mounting rods that came the 1010. It works although takes away from the 1010's best asset, it small nimble size, by adding some bulk. But when you want the extra stability it does the job. I couldn't justify the cost of the table widener.

Hi, does the 488756 (i.e. "base with knob") also account for the height differential created with a rail application? Another way to ask that is: does this part substitute the "hard fiber base (489229)", albeit with a handle?

Additionally, regarding both the OF 1010 and OF 1400, does anyone know if either of the traditional table wideners (493139 & 493233 respectively) account for the rail gap? I had an opportunity to hold the OF 1400 widener at a show in Milwaukee this weekend, and it seemed to be a bit thick. Wouldn't know for certain without actually substituting it for the stock base though. Thank you!

No and no, too thin and too thick. The extension table 488756 (base with knob) is 3 mm too thin. The 1010 table widener 493139 is 8.5 mm to thick and I believe the 1400's table widener is the same.

I use a Micro Fence for my Festool routers and it works so well that it should be painted green and black.  I just haven't been too impressed with Festools method of attaching the routers.  I think this is one area that they missed the ball.  Most of the time their solutions are the best solutions.  Nice thing about this setup is it allows me to use any router on the Festool guides.
