Hi all,

I really like my OF1010 but there is one issue; I can't see the pencil line well because of the plastic shroud.
I need to remove the top shroud cover for better visibility, but still the shroud makes inside very dark and I really see hard and close.

I wonder how you handle this issue when you want to bring the bit right on a pencil line....

I've been routing some signs free hand with the OF1010 and have found removing the top of the shroud sufficient to see my lines pretty well. A very bright light angled in too is also essential since I'm obviously getting older!

Surprisingly the dust extraction still works very well even with the top of the shroud missing - perhaps it's more a safety issue.

Thanks Festivus,

Yes, maybe it is more of the available light. I wish the router has illumination like the drills.
Maybe I should have a penlight with me.

Try using chalk or a marker/pen instead of a pencil line, for more contrast?

Of course, that assumes that the marking is getting cut away by the routing operation...

Cut the line with a marking knife and then mark with chalk and remove excess chalk that is not in the cut line.

I take the whole dust shroud off if I need to see what I'm routing

Yes, that'll do. It's not as easy as OF1400, though.
