Hi Guys,

I have just had some trouble with my OF1010.  I first started to notice that the motor sounded as if it was stuttering. I thought it might be a brush problem so I opened up the housing to see the condition of the brushes. From what I can tell the brushes still have about 12mm left on them but one of the brushes has a chip on one of the corners, there is about a 3mm chunk missing.

I only had one pass to do on my work so I tried to do some very light passes to hopefully finish it off but the stuttering got worse and smoke came from the upper housing. Needless to say I had to stop the work.

Is there any chance that the chipped brush could be causing the issue or is there something more sinister going on with the motor?
I can post a picture of the brush if that would help.

Any advise would be great.

At this point i would recommend that you contact our service department at  800-550-6425. My guess is that they would like to get it in and take a look at it.

My concern wouldn't be the chip on the brush itself, but where the missing piece fell!

Wayne,

As Brent (  [poke] ) meant to suggest it would probably be best to get your router into Festool South Africa for repair.
