OF1400 Depth Stop

Is it just me or do others find the design of the depth stop weak? Or at least non-intuitive and clumsy? I upgraded from a Dw621 and in every way except that, the Festool is a better router. But if I could transplant the DW621 depth stop and geared adjuster/knob onto the OF1400 I'd do it. Then there's the whole U.S. issue of having the scale and detents on the fine adjuster in metric which doesn't really help either.  It seems like the only real solution I've seen from posters is to set the depth with digitial calipers. And for some reason I still haven't identified, it seems like it's a bit awkward (comapred to the 621) to insert a workpiece scrap between the turret stops and depth stop to set the depth. Is there a mod that's been done that I haven't noticed? Anybody mounted a digital caliper on one?

HI,

I don't like the OF1400 depth stop either.  It looks like the 2200 has a much improved one. I have not made any mods though.
