Just picked up an of1400 router and I've got a little question for other owners.

The polystyrene block that fits between the base and body, do you keep it and always use it when storing the router. Or is it a throw away item that's just used for delivery.

Just curious

I got given mine today and that block went directly into the bin.

But keep the one that fits between the router and inside of the Systainer lid, if that is still in scope of delivery.

I kept the block and always use it. There is a small tab on the bottom of it that stops the parts of the parallel guide moving about in the systainer.

It's a great looking router , I'll have to wait to have a play with it as my workshop is full of doors being painted by my painter. Hes moved in lol.

Kick him outside and have a play, love the 1400 for hand held work, a nice balance.

Hopefully he'll be done tomorrow but then I've gotta wait a few days for the paint to harden before handling.

I'm sure I can wait :)

Just had a chance to have a proper look in the systainer. Looks like Festool have been on an economy drive.

I knew they'd stopped supplying it with an 8mm collet but I see theres a few things missing. The dust shroud for the fence no longer comes with  it and I noticed you don't even get the levelling foot with it. Not sure if I can use my of1010 foot whether it's the same. Maybe the foot comes with the guide rail gizmo I'm not sure.

The OF 1010 levelling foot also fits the OF 1400.
When you order the rail attachment FS-OF 1400 (492601), the levelling foot is included.

Yeah I thought I'd seen that years ago before I bought the 1010.

Can't believe they don't supply dust shroud for use with fence anymore, you need it for larger diameter cutters.

I also keep it, but can't really give you a reason other than 'if FT sees it fit to put there for storage, who am i to argue.'
