OF2200 and CT26

Hello,

Before buying my new OF2200 router I checked on a few posts on the FOG were people where saying that its fine to run the OF2200 off a CT26 extractor even though it says 1800w on the extractor itself.

I tried it for the first time today but its acting strange, it seems to strain even when the cutter is not in contact with the workpiece, there are visible sparks inside the motor housing and the motor on the router sounds like its crackling. None of this happens when the router and extractor are plugged directly into wall sockets.

Its not the end of the world if I can't use them together but its obviously better if I can, so my question is, is there something wrong with my tools or is this how it is? I can't seem to find the post I read where it said that its ok to fun it off the CT26.

Cheers.

P.S - I'm in the UK and both the tools are 240v.

May be low voltage due to a loose connection somewhere in the circuit(vac or
shop).

I use my of2200 with a midi which has even lower Wattage warning than the ct26 and I find it works very well but only if my transformer is plugged directly into a socket, it does what yours does if it is plugged into an extension reel (mines 110v though)

Plug the 2200 into the wall, see how it acts.

I run my 2200 with all 4 of my CT's with no issues at all. 110 volt tools.

Tom

The 2200 acts that way because it doesn't get enough power. Either the circuit doesn't have enough power to power both the 2200 and 26 or the 26 doesn't let enough power through.

Check on another circuit if you get the same results.

It'd also be interesting to see if a different CT in between your router and socket caused the same problem. Can you borrow one?

voltage drop.
if you want to keep the automatic start of the dc, rig a contactor.

I was using this exact same set-up last week, CT26 + OF2200 240volt.

I cant say I noticed any of the symptoms you describe.

My OF 2200 is/was brand new and my CT26 is 9 months old.

Next time I set them up, I will check to see if I can detect anything like you describe.

Tim.

I use the OF 2200 allready  for 4 years now in combination with the CTL 26.
But at my CTL 26 there is a 2400 W connection.
in the manual you can find next info :
the EU version have a 2400W Connection,
CH en DK 1100W
GB 1800W (240V)

There is a current limiter in the CT?

Do you know if Festool makes different internal boards/circuitry for the various CT models across the pond? Here there is only one line of CT.

Not normally, but if there is a fault somewhere in the CT a lower current might be a possible result. Just troubleshooting here, and coming up with possibilities that need to be checked before a conclusion can be made.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I used the OF2200 and CT26 again today but I was on a different job in a different house. It started off the same for about fifteen seconds but after that it seemed fine none of the above symptoms.

Is there some kind of run in period? I did read somewhere about having to run in the rotten sanders. Yesterday was the first time both the OF2200 and the CT26 had been fired up.

No run in period on any of my 2200's.

Sounds like there is an issue in the router as you have not complained about other tools (if you have any) acting up with the CT.
