Hello Guys, I'm new to the list. I joined to find out more about my crap jigsaw - I see you all know the model already - I wish I had been here before I bought it !
BUT, I also have an OF2200 which I bought almost 3 years ago. For personal reasons I had to stop my woodworking for a while and only got it out of its systainer last week for the first time.
The plunge wouldn't plunge, not good for a router !
I phoned Festool at about 11.30 last Friday and explained that although the tool is almost 3 years old, and I didn't register it at the time of purchase, it is to all intents and purposes brand new and still even had the string on the power lead.
Less than an hour after I called I had a call back and re-explained the problem. The chap who called me explained that my local rep is on holiday and he would get the rep from the neighbouring patch to call me.
Less than another hour later the 2nd rep called me from over 100 miles away, he knew what my problem was and went through a few simple things, was the plunge unlocked ? Was the depth stop out of the way ? etc. Having established that I'm not a total numpty he then offered to get someone to come and see me on Monday at 10.00.
Sure enough 10.00 Monday morning came as did the festool rep. He spent most of the morning here trying to sort it out, and did partially, he left me saying 'carry on doing what I was doing for another hour or so and if your not happy I'll have it collected for workshop repair, it's completely your decision'. He then registered the router for me as well !
I'll keep you posted on the OF2200, but 3 phone calls back and a personal visit including a couple of hours on site, all in less than 24 working hours is what I call FANTASTIC service by any standards. I know these tools are not cheap but sometimes we do get what we pay for.
He also gave me a few pointers on the jigsaw, he didn't use the word 'crap' as he is very skilled with language, if you see what I mean [wink]
Jon.
